(NLDO) - Tan Ky Tan Quy Bridge officially opened to traffic, carrying out the mission of connecting traffic, reducing congestion, and contributing to completing inner-city infrastructure.
On the morning of January 21, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) held a ceremony to open Tan Ky Tan Quy bridge in Binh Tan district.
The ceremony was attended by Ms. Tran Kim Yen, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Inspection Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
Tan Ky Tan Quy Bridge, Binh Tan District opened to traffic this morning
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Trinh Linh Phuong, Deputy Director of the Traffic Department, the project investor, said that this is a project approved by the Department of Transport with a total investment of 491.7 billion VND. The bridge is newly built with reinforced concrete to replace the old bridge, with a route length of 385m, a bridge width of 16m, a scale of 4 lanes, and 1.5m wide sidewalks on both sides.
The project also includes a 367.4m long, 7m wide bridge access road on both sides, along with a drainage, lighting, and tree system. The starting point is at the intersection of Tan Ky Tan Quy - National Highway 1A and the end point is at the intersection of Tan Ky Tan Quy - Ma Lo. The project started on June 20, 2024 and was completed on schedule.
The new Tan Ky Tan Quy bridge replaces the old bridge built before 1975, which was degraded and collapsed in August 2016.
Initially, the project was implemented in the form of BOT since 2016, but by 2022, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee decided to end this method and switch to public investment. The work of compensation, support, and resettlement with a total cost of 190 billion VND encountered many difficulties, but thanks to the strong direction of the Binh Tan District government and the consensus of the people, the site was completely handed over in October 2024.
The opening of Tan Ky Tan Quy Bridge not only solves traffic congestion but also effectively connects National Highway 1A to the center of Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to the completion of the transportation network and promoting socio-economic development. The project also plays an important role in the axis connecting the southwest area of the city with Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of Tan Ky Tan Quy Bridge, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong emphasized the important role of 2025 - the last year of the 2021-2025 term - in accelerating the progress and completion of key traffic projects, contributing to solving traffic pressure and serving socio-economic development.
Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong spoke at the traffic opening ceremony this morning.
Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong highly appreciated the efforts of relevant units in removing legal and technical obstacles when converting the Tan Ky Tan Quy bridge project from BOT to public investment, as well as the consensus of the people in handing over the site, ensuring the project's progress. In addition, the synchronization of technical infrastructure such as underground power grid and connection with the Tham Luong - Ben Cat - Rach Nuoc Len canal renovation project was effectively implemented.
In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City will prioritize strategic transport projects such as Ring Road 2, Ring Road 3, Nguyen Khoi Bridge and Road and many other important projects. According to Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong, this affirms the determination to complete infrastructure and improve the quality of life for the people.
Mr. Luong Minh Phuc, Director of the Traffic Department, said that many key projects will be accelerated and maintained during Tet to serve the people. Of these, 10 packages of the Ring Road 3 project and 6 packages at the An Phu intersection will continue to be implemented during the holiday.
"During the time when everyone returns home to celebrate Tet, workers have accepted to celebrate Tet away from home - that is a huge sacrifice, and the Traffic Department is extremely grateful and appreciative."
Mr. Luong Minh Phuc emphasized that this is a special gift from engineers and workers in the transportation industry to the people of Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the Lunar New Year.
