On the evening of November 24, District 12 Police (HCMC) informed that the information posted on social networking sites "Warning about strangers offering money and approaching students at school gates in District 12 with the intention of kidnapping" is false.

According to information from District 12 Police, previously, information was posted on social networks with methods and tricks of subjects approaching and giving money to students in the area for bad purposes. At the same time, the pages posted Official Dispatch No. 234/HHG dated November 22, 2023 signed by the Principal of Ha Huy Giap Primary School on coordination to ensure security and safety for students, prevent criminals from abusing and kidnapping in front of the school gate.

It mentioned the incident that happened at To Ngoc Van Secondary School (Thanh Xuan Ward, District 12) with some inaccurate content. Therefore, there were streams of information that the incident that happened at To Ngoc Van Secondary School was a staged kidnapping of students, causing panic.

During the verification process, District 12 Police confirmed that there was no content as reported on social networking sites. Specifically, according to the verification, Ms. VTKL (living in Thanh Loc Ward, District 12) saw her child NLTT standing at the school gate borrowing money from a friend, but the friend did not have any.

At this time, Ms. L. took 20,000 VND from her pocket and gave it to T. and then left. On the same day, after receiving a propaganda notice from Ha Huy Giap School about "preventing criminals from abusing and kidnapping in front of the school gate" in the parents' group (the class where Ms. L.'s child is studying), she posted a correction on the group and informed the homeroom teacher.

In response to the above incident, the police requested that units, agencies, businesses, schools, especially media agencies, when discovering suspicious cases or subjects, should report to the nearest police agency for timely verification and handling of the incident. At the same time, the police requested that parents, students, and schools not spread or share unfounded information that has not been accurately verified by authorities, causing panic and anxiety, affecting life and spirit.
