According to information, on the afternoon of December 8, during a STEM class (an educational activity integrating knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), TA - an 8th grade student of Hong Bang Secondary School was hit on the shoulder by a Technology teacher using an antenna (a device used to teach lessons). Hong Bang Secondary School (District 5, Ho Chi Minh City) where an 8th grade student was beaten by his teacher.
After that, the student's family took him to the doctor and the results confirmed that he had a broken shoulder blade. However, Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital (HCMC) said that the information that the student had a broken shoulder blade was only the family's initial guess, due to a misunderstanding of the doctor's conclusion.
According to the hospital representative's explanation, TA was brought to the hospital with shoulder pain due to impact, so after examining and taking X-rays, the doctor's initial diagnosis was "monitoring for a fracture". This is completely different from concluding that the patient had a "fracture".
Currently, the principal of Hong Bang Secondary School - Mr. Tran Van Luyen said that he had discussed with the male student's family about health care measures and assigned teachers to support the student's studies while he was on a temporary leave of absence. In addition, the school proposed to pay all hospital fees for the student. He said that regardless of the cause of the incident, the teacher's actions were completely wrong. As the head, he accepted responsibility for this incident and affirmed that he would handle the matter seriously.
The Board of Directors of Hong Bang Secondary School requested the teacher who beat the student to write a report on the incident and not assign him to teach A's class. After the incident, the teacher submitted a report, admitted his mistake and expressed deep remorse. Regarding TA, the school will do its best to take care of his studies, health and psychology after he returns to school.
