According to information shared by some parents of students at Wellspring Saigon International Bilingual School, during the school lunch on February 12, a student in grade 7/6 discovered live larvae in the pan-fried salmon dish. The incident was then reported to the school's Board of Directors.
The school said that through inspection and evaluation of the process of preparing all lunch meals for students, all complied with food safety and hygiene regulations and no abnormalities were detected, including in the salmon dish.
However, when checking the Phan Rang green apples, the school discovered live larvae in some of the apples. Although the apples had been processed, because they were fresh fruits, there was still a risk of larvae remaining. Preliminary assessment showed that the live larvae that the students discovered were likely from green apples. Immediately after that, the school directed the students to stop using unpeeled fruits and replace them with peeled fruits to ensure food hygiene and safety.
