On the morning of April 2, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh, Director of the Center for Testing and Training Quality Assurance - Ho Chi Minh City National University, said that immediately after receiving feedback from candidates, the capacity assessment examination council worked with the An Giang University examination site and determined that 4 candidates were affected.
This year's first round of competency assessment exam has the highest number of candidates registered to take the exam ever.
Specifically, the incident occurred in an examination room with 45 candidates. When the supervisor distributed the exam papers to the last 4 candidates, he discovered that 2 candidates had the same exam code and were sitting close to each other. Therefore, the supervisor changed the exam papers. The process of changing and re-issuing the exam papers caused the 4 candidates to be delayed by about 10 minutes.
The examination council in An Giang province directly apologized to the four candidates and did not collect the examination fee (VND 300,000) if they took the second round of the competency assessment exam.
"Although this is an unfortunate incident, the examination board has no way to let candidates retake the first exam or add more points," said Dr. Chinh.
Previously, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper reported that after the competency assessment exam took place on March 30, many posts appeared on social networks claiming that the exam supervisor was late, causing candidates to lose nearly 20 minutes on the test.
This candidate did not know why the invigilator in room P.002 was nearly 20 minutes late for the test without any extra time. Initially, the invigilator agreed to give him an extra 10 minutes, but at exactly 11 o'clock, all candidates still had to submit their test papers.
"In 20 minutes, I can do 5 more questions or maybe more. The time pressure makes it impossible for me and my friends to think carefully, so we have to guess many questions to submit" - this candidate said.
In the comments below, many people said that as soon as the incident happened, these candidates should have reported it to the examination board immediately for timely resolution. Posting it on social media after the exam ended is no longer meaningful.
The first round of the competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University had 126,311 candidates taking the exam in 25 provinces and cities (from Hue to Ca Mau). The exam had 55 exam clusters and 118 exam locations. The exam results were used by more than 100 colleges and universities for admission.
