Vietnam News Agency shares experience in digital transformation of journalism with Pasaxon newspaper (Laos)

Introducing the development of VNA, Deputy General Director Nguyen Thi Su stated: VNA is an agency under the Government , performing the function of a state news agency, providing official and authentic information sources of Vietnam to the domestic and foreign press and media system. After 79 years of establishment and development, VNA now has 5 editorial boards, 2 information centers performing the function of source information; 8 print and electronic newspaper editorial offices directly serving information to the public; along with functional units, information service units, 1 publishing house and 2 printing enterprises.

The whole sector has over 2,000 staff, of which over 1,000 reporters and editors have press cards. VNA has 63 permanent offices in all provinces and cities nationwide, and 30 permanent offices abroad. Of which, VNA's permanent office in the capital Vientiane always performs well the task of foreign information and propaganda, promoting the image of Vietnam to the Lao people; providing accurate and timely information about the situation of the brotherly country of Laos in the process of construction, development and integration.

According to Deputy General Director Nguyen Thi Su, in recent times, VNA has devoted a lot of resources to investing in developing information technology applications in internal management and operations, as well as in journalism activities; implementing many solutions on network safety and security. VNA has built a technical platform to support the integration of information of all types; built and put into use electronic information pages of most newspapers in the industry; launched websites serving important political events of the country, and specialized information pages to meet readers' needs for in-depth information.

In addition, VNA increases the application of artificial intelligence technology and databases in the information production process; applies multilingual automatic machine reading systems; publishes e-books... To meet the requirements of digital transformation, VNA focuses on training in the use of multimedia information operation software, training in information technology skills, and information security for reporters and editors...

Thanking VNA for the sincere and respectful reception, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Pasaxon Newspaper Syvanh Homsayadeth highly appreciated VNA's rapid development and application of technology in recent times, especially the investment in technical infrastructure; at the same time, he said that Pasaxon Newspaper's orientation is also towards multimedia and multi-platform development like VNA.

Deputy Editor-in-Chief Syvanh Homsayadeth thanked VNA for the lessons learned and affirmed that Pasaxon Newspaper would learn from them and continue to apply them to improve the quality of information and increase advertising revenue; and expressed his hope that in the future, the cooperative relationship and experience sharing between VNA and Pasaxon Newspaper would be expanded more.

Previously, on December 26, 2023, Nhan Dan Newspaper and Pasaxon Newspaper signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. Accordingly, Nhan Dan Newspaper has built and is ready to hand over the content management software system and the new interface of Pasaxon Electronic Newspaper; consult on technical, infrastructure, and environmental requirements; support the installation of the environment and system administration; support the training and development of personnel in charge of managing and operating the new website..., ensuring that after the complete handover, Pasaxon Newspaper can self-manage and operate...
