Unanimously propose to promote Vietnam educational cooperation

Pleased to meet Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Marco Della Seta shared that education and training is an important field in the cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Italy, and this will continue to be an area of ​​interest to promote cooperation in the coming time.

Referring to some results in educational and training cooperation between the two countries in recent times such as the number of international students studying between the two countries, the Vietnam - Italy higher education forums that have been held, cooperation programs between educational institutions of the two countries, etc., Ambassador Marco Della Seta also proposed some contents to further promote educational cooperation between the two countries.

Specifically, Ambassador Marco Della Seta proposed to organize the 3rd Vietnam - Italy higher education cooperation forum with the participation of more than 20 universities from both sides in 2024; proposed that Vietnam pay attention to Italian universities to participate more in the Project to improve the capacity of lecturers and managers of higher education institutions to meet the requirements of comprehensive fundamental innovation of education and training in the 2019-2030 period of the Vietnamese Government and proposed dual degree training at the university level.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Nguyen Kim Son assessed that Italy has a developed education system, especially university education, and many Vietnamese students wish to study at prestigious Italian universities.

The Minister also appreciated the support of the Italian Government for projects at a number of Vietnamese universities such as the project on improving the capacity of medical staff at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy - Hue University; the agriculture and food project at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology and the University of Agriculture and Forestry - Thai Nguyen University and many other projects.

Sharing his support for the proposals of Ambassador Marco Della Seta, the Minister said that the organization of the 3rd Vietnam - Italy Higher Education Cooperation Forum is necessary and useful, and the two sides will have specific discussions on the appropriate time to organize it. Regarding the implementation of the Project to improve the capacity of lecturers and managers at higher education institutions in Vietnam, the Minister hopes that Italian universities will participate more.

Thanking the Ambassador for his interest in promoting cooperation in education and training, science and technology between the two countries, Minister Nguyen Kim Son hopes that the Ambassador will pay attention to supporting the negotiation process to sign the Action Program on Vietnam - Italy educational cooperation in the new period.

According to the Action Program for Educational Cooperation between the Government of Vietnam and the Government of Italy for the period 2019-2022, the Government of Italy grants short-term scholarships selected by the Embassy of Italy in Vietnam. Currently, the Government of Italy does not grant bilateral scholarships at the Government level, decentralizing to Italian universities to proactively cooperate and exchange scholarships directly between schools.
