On the afternoon of April 23, the Provincial Party Standing Committee held a Provincial Party Committee Conference to give opinions on the draft Project to merge Bac Lieu and Ca Mau provinces.
The conference was chaired by comrades: Nguyen Ho Hai, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Duc Hien, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Pham Thanh Ngai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai gave a speech at the conference.
At the conference, comrade Pham Thanh Ngai informed the results of the Conference of the Steering Committee for the Project of Merging Ca Mau and Bac Lieu Provinces held yesterday, April 22 in Bac Lieu Province. "The merger will create new positions and forces, new opportunities and expand the development space of Ca Mau Province after the merger", comrade Pham Thanh Ngai emphasized.
Accordingly, the project's plan is to establish Ca Mau province on the basis of merging the administrative units (ADUs) of Bac Lieu province and Ca Mau province. On the basis of parallel implementation of two tasks of arranging provincial-level ADUs and arranging grassroots-level ADUs; ensuring that after the arrangement, Ca Mau province (new) effectively organizes the implementation of the two-level government model in accordance with the Constitution (amended), the Law on Organization of Local Government (amended); promoting the potential and advantages of the two provinces in terms of land area, population size, economic growth results; supporting each other to promote the common socio-economic development of the provincial-level ADUs after the arrangement.
The provincial administrative unit formed after the reorganization is Ca Mau province (new) with a natural area of 7,942.38 km2 (reaching 158.85% of the standard), a population of 2,606,672 people (reaching 186.19% of the standard) and 64 subordinate administrative units (55 communes, 9 wards). The administrative - political center of Ca Mau province (new) is located at 02 Hung Vuong, Ward 5, Ca Mau city, Ca Mau province at present.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Nguyen Ho Hai, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, emphasized: “The project to merge the two provinces of Ca Mau and Bac Lieu was implemented very urgently, and the Working Group ensured the requirements and progress. After the working conference with the Standing Committee of the Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee, there were comments and contributions and they were quickly adjusted, supplemented and completed. It must be determined that this is a very important task, and must create consensus and support from the people. The highest goal is that the merger of the two provinces will create the appearance of a new Ca Mau province that develops quickly, strongly and sustainably.”
100% of delegates voted to pass the Resolution of the Executive Committee of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee on the Project to merge the two provinces of Ca Mau and Bac Lieu.
Delegates attending the conference highly agreed with the project and also contributed some ideas to make the project more complete. At the conference, 100% of delegates attending voted to pass the Resolution of the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of Ca Mau province on the project to merge the two provinces of Ca Mau and Bac Lieu with a spirit of consensus and responsibility.
