A strong message of unwavering faith in a bright future

President Luong Cuong emphasized that Vietnam is entering a new era with a new mindset, with a strong desire to develop a prosperous and happy country, and with a firm belief in a bright future.

According to the special correspondent of VNA, on the morning of November 14 local time, during the program to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2024 High-Level Week in Lima, Peru, the APEC 2024 Business Summit took place.

The APEC Business Summit is an annual event and the largest in scale for the business community in the region.

This is an opportunity for APEC Leaders to meet and discuss with senior leaders of thousands of leading Asia-Pacific businesses about new development trends, opportunities and challenges facing the region, and propose breakthrough ideas and solutions for cooperation and development in the region.

With the theme “People. Business. Prosperity,” this conference includes more than 20 discussion sessions focusing on issues and trends that have a major impact on regional and global development such as climate change, geopolitical fluctuations in the world, the artificial intelligence revolution and innovation, energy transition, the process of international economic integration and regional connectivity, efforts to promote inclusive growth, and the development of emerging markets.

President Luong Cuong, as the main guest, delivered an important speech at the Conference. President Luong Cuong shared his view that the world and Asia-Pacific are undergoing great, epochal changes that have multi-dimensional impacts on every country and every business.

In that context, APEC needs to build an international economic governance system that is favorable for development and contributes to solving four major requirements: One is to ensure a peaceful and stable international environment, encourage global trade and investment, international economic integration and linkage; Two is to ensure that all countries and all people have equal access to opportunities and enjoy the fruits of cooperation and development; Three is to have fundamental solutions for green and clean energy transition, to effectively respond to humanity's greatest challenge, climate change; and Four is to ensure that breakthrough technologies, especially artificial intelligence, are developed and applied responsibly and inclusively, truly becoming the driving force for economic growth and social progress.

Highlighting the role of the business community, the President said that optimism, daring to think and act, and the ability to discover and take advantage of opportunities even in difficult times are the keys to success.

The President emphasized that the business community can contribute effectively in a number of aspects, namely: Firstly, pioneering in innovating business models, production towards green, circular, digital transformation...; becoming a leading force, spreading and leading the development of important sectors and fields of the economy.

Second, increase investment in research and development, promote the development and application of breakthrough technologies to find solutions to the world's pressing problems.

Third, actively participate in the process of shaping laws and regulations for new areas of strategic significance in the world economy. Fourth, play the role of a bridge, connecting economies, promoting people-to-people exchanges, contributing to building and strengthening cooperative and friendly relations between countries.

The President proposed further strengthening the role and contributions of the business community, especially in green transformation, digital transformation, technology development, shaping world economic laws and regulations, and strengthening people-to-people exchanges, cooperation, and friendship between countries.

President Luong Cuong emphasized that Vietnam is entering a new era with a new mindset, with a strong desire to develop a prosperous and happy country, and with a firm belief in a bright future.

Vietnam's assets include a fast-growing, dynamic economy ranked 35th in the world; a strong, stable, people-centered political system; a patriotic, confident, self-reliant nation with a population of over 100 million; and many international friends and partners across five continents.

President Luong Cuong affirmed that Vietnam adheres to consistent principles and viewpoints on independence, self-reliance, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, for peace, cooperation and development.

Vietnam supports the multilateral trading system and the central role of the World Trade Organization; believes in the value of free trade, international connectivity and integration; and will responsibly participate and actively contribute to world politics, the global economy and human civilization in the spirit of being a friend, a reliable partner and an active, responsible member of the international community.

The President pointed out that Vietnam's strong development will open up many new opportunities for both domestic and international enterprises in the fields of trade, industry, agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, logistics and high-tech industries. The Vietnamese market has, is and will bring many benefits and advantages that few other places have for international enterprises and investors.

The President also highlighted the important advantages that the Vietnamese economy has: One, a favorable geographical location in Southeast Asia, with a dynamic, highly open economy and a network of 17 free trade agreements; Two, a large, potential market; a favorable destination for the process of shifting supply chains in the region; a population size ranked 15th in the world, synchronous infrastructure, and a business environment among the most favorable in Asia; Three, Vietnam is creating a new economy, transforming from brown to green, from a traditional economy to a digital economy, startups and innovation; and Four, developing strategic infrastructure, especially transport infrastructure, energy infrastructure, and digital infrastructure.

At the end of his speech, the President affirmed that, in the face of the world's great changes and the risks of protectionism, fragmentation and separation, APEC once again needs to shoulder the responsibility of bridging, connecting and promoting cooperation among members to jointly build a transparent and equitable international economic governance system, ensuring balanced benefits for all parties.
