When launching the essay book Chatting with Water Hyacinth in 2023, she once shared that she had to "bathe" in a free environment so that her inspiration could "fly freely". And that's why, in Flower Season on the River Paths, Vo Dieu Thanh's pen is freely used in many places, but most of all is the "Southern" flesh and blood. There she exploits many topics, from the past with the Ba Chuc massacre, with people from thousands of years ago or childhood memories... to the present, when people need to have "migration" to the past as a resting place, thereby opening up new paths...
Nature plays an important role in this book. In most of her articles, she observed the "children of Mother Nature", and then related them to humans. For example, from the bee that diligently collects honey from a far away place even though there is a bowl of sugar right in front of it, she talked about the good and bad sides of human stubbornness. Or with the tree that knows how to adapt to the dry season to be less green, she showed us that learning to be flexible in this life is necessary... From there, she sent a message of reconciliation and belief in a brighter tomorrow. Vo Dieu Thanh showed that over time, old wounds will gradually heal, and people live to love each other.
