For flower growers, each Tet flower crop always brings high expectations because of its high value and large consumption market. However, this year, the erratic weather is causing many difficulties for flower growers.

Farmers in flower growing areas in Da Nang said that this year’s weather is more complicated than usual. Heavy rain has greatly affected the growth of flowers. Meanwhile, there have been sudden hot days that have caused the flowers to go into thermal shock, causing the flowers to bloom early and unevenly.

The erratic weather makes care very difficult. Many flowers bloom earlier than expected, forcing gardeners to find ways to change the environment so that the flowers bloom in time for Tet.

Mr. Huynh Tinh - a flower farmer in Hoa Lien commune said: "We have invested a whole year in the Tet flower crop, but the changing weather like this makes it very difficult to take care of the flowers. If we do not fix it in time, the risk of losing the entire flower crop is very high."

“This is the time when flowers are growing, so we need to know how to fertilize the flowers, what type of fertilizer is suitable for the growth process of the flowers, and then spray pesticides to prevent pests. Currently, the erratic weather makes us flower growers worried,” said flower grower Nguyen Thi Lai.

To cope with the unusual weather conditions, farmers have had to increase measures to protect their flowers. Some households have built additional rain shelters and installed automatic irrigation systems to regulate the appropriate amount of water.

Many flowers such as primroses, primroses, daisies and camellias have bloomed early.

Many gardeners cut off flower tips, fertilize, and put the plants in pots to care for them, hoping that the plants will grow as expected.

With just over a month left until Tet, flower farmers in Da Nang city are working hard to take care of their flowers and closely monitor the weather, hoping that everything will go smoothly to bring the most beautiful flower gardens to serve customers to celebrate Tet.
