DNVN - On December 11, the investment website Vietnam-briefing.com of Dezan Shira & Associates published an article stating that the agreement with Nvidia demonstrates Vietnam's proactive technology development strategy and great economic potential.
The article stated that, among the investments in artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing in Southeast Asia, Nvidia's construction of a research and development (R&D) center is of great importance, especially in the context of Vietnam's transition from low-end manufacturing to connecting global innovation networks. This move will strengthen Vietnam's position in the global supply chain, creating a unique competitive advantage for domestic and foreign enterprises.
Vietnam’s AI market is emerging as a bright spot in Southeast Asia. According to market research firm Statista (Germany), Vietnam’s AI market value is estimated to reach 753.4 million USD by 2024, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 28.36% in the 2024-2030 period. This growth rate is similar to the region (28.53%), demonstrating Vietnam’s ability to quickly catch up with the wave of global technology transformation through foreign investment.
According to the ranking of AI readiness by consulting firm Oxford Insights (UK), Vietnam ranked 39th out of 139 countries, up 19 places compared to 2023. In Southeast Asia, Vietnam is among the top 5 countries with more than 5,000 engineers, 7,000 AI experts and about 500 startups in the industry.
The driving forces behind Vietnam’s technological development are its young, dynamic and competitively priced workforce. Vietnam ranks third in the region in terms of the number of investment deals and total startup investment. In recent times, many technology “unicorns” and domestic startups have achieved significant success in the field of AI.
With its strategic location near China and India, Vietnam is ideally placed to connect with top potential markets. At the same time, the government plays an important role in promoting economic growth and maintaining a business environment conducive to innovation.
The article emphasized that Nvidia’s investment marks an important transition, affirming that Vietnam is rising to become the AI innovation center of Southeast Asia. The establishment of two AI centers and strategic cooperation with VinBrain and FPT shows that Vietnam is playing an increasingly prominent role in the global AI ecosystem.
In an effort to shift from low-value to high-value manufacturing based on innovation, these developments offer bright prospects for Vietnam and its domestic and foreign partners in the AI field.
