Organic grapefruit farm ensures food safety and hygiene in Xuan Hong commune.
To proactively prevent food poisoning, since the beginning of the year, the District People's Committee has issued many documents directing all levels and sectors to strengthen inter-sectoral coordination in managing and controlling food safety for production, processing and food service establishments in the area. Specific tasks have been assigned to each member of the steering committee and the interdisciplinary inspection team to effectively coordinate and combine food safety assurance in all related sectors and fields.
Communication and dissemination of knowledge on food safety are also regularly carried out by all levels and sectors. In 2024, the district organized 65 training courses on food safety knowledge for nearly 1,000 participants. Regularly propagate and disseminate policies and laws on food safety on the radio system from the district to the grassroots level. In addition, the sectors also coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organizations to organize dozens of conferences to train knowledge, management and supervision skills for the front working committee in residential areas (KDC), the executive board of the model "KDC self-management on food safety"; hundreds of propaganda sessions on food safety at conferences, meetings, and regular activities of sectors, mass organizations, and KDC. Integrating food safety work with the implementation of the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods", the movement "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas"; Building and replicating effective models, such as the model of "Self-managed residential areas on food safety", the model of "Bright, green, clean, beautiful, safe residential areas"... Thereby, legal documents and new regulations of the State in food safety management and control are deployed to many subjects, creating positive effects in State management and in people's lives, contributing to effective control of food safety at food establishments and in households.
Directing mass organizations to select appropriate movements and propaganda contents such as: Vietnam Fatherland Front with the model of "Self-managed residential areas on food safety", the model of "bright, green, clean, beautiful, safe residential areas"; Farmers' Association mobilizes members to build a culture of "Farmers say no to dirty food", implementing "3 nos" (no unsafe vegetable production; no unsafe slaughter of livestock and poultry; no trading in food additives not on the list). District Women's Union organizes conferences to communicate knowledge of "Eat healthy, live healthy", exchange communication initiatives on food safety. The Youth Union built a street of food safety murals, a model of "Youth shock troops to ensure food safety"... The promotion of propaganda, mobilization and supervision activities on food safety by the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations has contributed to creating a high level of unity in awareness and action of cadres, party members, association members and union members in implementing food safety work, contributing to protecting people's health.
In addition, the work of inspecting and supervising food safety and hygiene, and preventing food poisoning has been strengthened; promptly detecting and strictly handling food safety violations. In 2024, the district established 3 district-level interdisciplinary teams and 90 commune-level teams to inspect 1,719 food production and trading establishments. Through inspection, 3 establishments were found to be in violation, and fined more than 3 million VND. Market Management Team No. 14 suddenly inspected and fined 2 establishments, with a total fine of 50.5 million VND (including an administrative fine of 24.5 million VND and destruction of goods worth 26 million VND). The main violations were facility hygiene, equipment and tool conditions, and incorrect product labeling. All violations were reminded by the interdisciplinary inspection and audit teams and were seriously corrected by the establishments.
To effectively implement the State management of food safety, in the coming time, Tho Xuan district will continue to strengthen propaganda andeducation to raise people's awareness of food safety. Strictly manage food products and food production and trading establishments in the area, focusing on effectively implementing inspection, examination, and inter-sectoral coordination in food safety to detect, strictly and promptly handle violations in food production, trading, and processing.
