If aid to Ukraine is not approved, the US may have to send troops to the field.

According to NBC news, in a recent closed-door meeting, White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and US Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines warned that Ukraine would run out of artillery and air defense resources in a few weeks if it did not receive timely aid.
They said that Ukrainian forces "could only sustain fighting with Russia for the next few weeks or months" if the US Congress does not approve additional aid to Ukraine.
In October last year, the administration of US President Joe Biden asked Congress to approve an additional $106 billion budget for fiscal year 2024, including more than $60 billion in aid to Ukraine.
However, the proposal has not been approved due to opposition from Republican lawmakers. Republicans want the Biden administration to first make commitments on border security.
Under pressure, President Joe Biden met with congressional leaders and warned of the risk of having to send U.S. troops to Ukraine if they did not approve additional aid to Kiev.
"President Biden emphasized the urgency of the threat to our NATO partners in the region and what that means for them. Certainly, we do not want to see our military put in a position where they have to be on the ground," White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said on January 18.
