Even though they knew their son was a genius, Tao's parents did not push him to study early. Instead, they let him go to school like his friends and develop naturally.

At the age of 9, Tao began taking college-level courses and quickly showed his talent. At that time, Tao was a special case when he scored 760/800 on the SAT Math exam.

Thanks to his intelligence and diligence, Tao won many awards. At the age of 10, he won a bronze medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad. A year later, Tao won a silver medal. At the age of 13, the Chinese boy became the youngest contestant in history to win a gold medal.

Immediately after winning the highest Olympic medal, Tao became a student at Flinders University at the age of 14 and graduated with honors after only 2 years of study.

During that time, Terence Tao wrote his first book, talking about methods and experiences in solving Math problems in the international Math competitions IMO.

In 1992, Tao received a master's degree and a Fulbright scholarship for graduate study.

After a short time, the young professor successfully researched the theory of digital image compression techniques, which was voted as the breakthrough technology of 2007 by the American magazine Technology Review.

During his research career, Tao was recognized by the mathematical community as having made contributions in nearly 10 important mathematical research fields such as harmonic analysis, partial differential equations, combinatorics, analytic number theory, arithmetic theory, etc.

As of 2016, this mathematician has published more than 300 articles and 17 books of great value to the academic community.

Not only successful in his career, Terence Tao's life is also the dream of many people. He is always commented as likable, friendly and has a very high EQ, so the Chinese mathematician is loved by many people.
