Entrance exam to grade 10 in Hanoi: 80 private schools recruit students based on transcripts, 33 schools do not use the Department's exam results

According to the announcement of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, 80/84 schools will recruit students for grade 10 based on the results of training and studying of students at the secondary school level (report cards). Of these, 48 schools will recruit students based on both report cards and the results of the public grade 10 entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year.

There are 33 schools that do not use the results of the public 10th grade exam. The list includes: Doan Thi Diem, Newton, Phenikaa, TH School, Olympia, Viet Uc, Le Quy Don... along with international schools such as Dewey, Horizon, True North...

There are 4 private schools that only recruit students using the results of the public 10th grade entrance exam, including: An Duong Vuong High School, Hoang Cau High School, Le Ngoc Han High School and Thanh Xuan High School.

The entrance exam for grade 10 high school in Hanoi will take place on June 7 and 8 with three compulsory subjects: Literature, Foreign Language and Math.

On June 9, candidates taking the specialized class exam will continue taking specialized subjects.

There will be nearly 118,000 candidates registered to take the exam, with more than 200 exam locations and 4,500 exam rooms arranged throughout the city.

Previously, at the conference on information and briefing on the implementation of key tasks of Hanoi city's press work in April 2025, Director of Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said that there will be about 48,000 students studying at private high schools, Vocational Education - Continuing Education centers and vocational education institutions.

Next school year, Hanoi will allocate nearly 28,000 10th grade enrollment quotas to 77 private high schools, more than 340 quotas to 4 international schools, and nearly 3,000 quotas for continuing high school education programs to 9 secondary schools in the city.
