In recent days, Chinese localities bordering Vietnam, such as Yunnan and Guangxi, have received the first shipments of fresh Vietnamese coconuts imported by road, since Vietnamese fresh coconut products were licensed by Chinese authorities to open the market from August 2024.

On October 15, a refrigerated truck carrying 2,700 fresh Vietnamese coconuts cleared customs and entered China smoothly through the Hekou border gate in Yunnan Province. The shipment of fresh coconuts originated from Ben Tre Province, with a total weight of 21.6 tons and a value of 110,000 yuan, making it the first shipment of fresh Vietnamese coconuts imported by road into China.
According to Chinese media, the process of harvesting fresh coconuts and transporting them to the border gate took less than 3 days. After completing entry procedures and being inspected by customs officers, the shipment was transported to a distribution center in Kunming city for consumption in many localities.
To promote smooth customs clearance for the first shipment of fresh Vietnamese coconuts, the authorities of Ha Khau district have supported and guided businesses to prepare for import well, enhanced coordination with inter-sectoral inspection departments, and created maximum convenience for customs clearance of goods.
Also on the afternoon of October 15, a shipment of fresh Vietnamese coconuts weighing 22.4 tons and worth 98,000 yuan was transported to the Youyiguan border gate in Pingxiang City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and after passing inspection, cleared customs into the Chinese market.
The first batch of fresh Vietnamese coconuts that Guangxi imported originated from Ben Tre province, with a collection and transportation time of about 3 days to the border gate, and a customs clearance time of less than 2 hours, with the destination being Hunan province, located deep inland in China.
According to the assessment, the first batches of fresh Vietnamese coconuts successfully exported to China are the latest achievement from the efforts of the two countries to promote the supply and export of high-quality agricultural products, deepen trade cooperation, and implement the contents of the Joint Statements reached between the two sides in recent times.
