According to records at supermarkets, since the 26th of Tet, supermarkets have welcomed a much larger number of Tet shoppers than usual. By the evening of the 28th of Tet, GO! Thang Long was also bustling with shoppers but there was no congestion or jostling to choose products.
The supermarket is offering promotions and discounts on many consumer goods such as: candy, cosmetics, household appliances... Discounts up to 50%. Goods are abundant, there is no shortage of goods or price fever.
This year, there has been almost no congestion or jostling at retail stores. This is partly due to people reducing their habit of hoarding goods because retail stores are open almost all year round. Promotions and discounts are also held regularly.
On the other hand, due to economic difficulties, people also limit their purchases of non-essential items.
At the traditional markets, on the morning of the 29th of Tet, the vendors reduced their sales by more than half, with most of the stalls selling fruits, vegetables, some fresh food, votive paper, and fresh flowers. There were also few customers.
A quick report on the market situation of some Tet goods by the Domestic Market Department - Ministry of Industry and Trade clearly stated that on the fourth day of the Lunar New Year holiday and also the last day of the old year (the 29th day of Tet), shopping focused mainly on fresh foods and vegetables for the year-end offering.
Compared to the same period last year, the prices of vegetables and some flowers such as chrysanthemums, lilies, gladiolus, and roses are about 5-10% cheaper than last year and there is no shortage; pork prices are about 15-25% higher because the price of live pigs in 2024 remains stable at a high level compared to 2023.
