Desk calendars and block calendars incorporate more information on various topics, such as: scenic spots, folk games, landscapes of the homeland, cuisine , festivals, etc. In particular, the mascot of the Year of the Snake (2015) is designed and printed with exquisite detail, making it very appealing.

Ms. Dam Thi Huong, Head of Nhan Dan Bookstore in Thanh Hoa City (Thanh Hoa Book Publishing Joint Stock Company), said: “This year's Tet calendars have been collected and displayed at the store since the beginning of November. The calendar designs are highly appreciated for their quality and style, and the prices are not much different from last year. Besides paying attention to each design and focusing on creating a unique mark for each calendar, publishers also focus on innovating the appearance of large-sized block calendars by using mirror coatings, inlaid feng shui stones, etc. For smaller calendars and desk calendars, emphasis is also placed on interactive features, providing additional information on science , literature, art, etc., to attract customers.”

We met Mr. Truong Van Phuc from Luong Quan village, Hoang Son commune (Hoang Hoa district) at the Nhan Dan Bookstore in Thanh Hoa City while he was choosing a Tet calendar. Mr. Phuc shared: “Every year, as the year draws to a close, I come here to personally choose and buy calendars to hang up for Tet. It's not simply for checking dates; for my family, a Tet calendar is like an indispensable spiritual gift every New Year.”

This year, the price of Lunar New Year calendars ranges from tens of thousands of dong to nearly one million dong, depending on the materials used, catering to a wide range of customers. To stimulate consumer demand, stores, bookstores, and calendar retailers are offering discounts of 10-30%. However, purchasing power remains low at this time.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet, from Anh Mai Stationery Co., Ltd. (Thanh Hoa City), said: "This year's Lunar New Year calendars have many diverse and eye-catching designs. To attract customers, the company is offering a discount of up to 30% for customers who buy calendars directly at the company, hoping to boost sales in the coming time."

Similarly, Viet Ly Bookstore (Thanh Hoa City) began preparing its inventory and Tet calendars in September. By this time, the bookstore already had orders from agencies and businesses for gifts to customers, partners, and employees.

Ms. Khuat Thi Lan, Director of Viet Ly Bookstore, said: “We have used various methods to promote and introduce Tet calendars at the bookstore and on social media. In addition, the bookstore is also running promotional programs with direct discounts of 20-30% to show appreciation to customers and ‘heat up’ the market at the end of the year.”

In today's digital age, smart devices such as phones, computers, televisions, and watches all integrate calendar features for user convenience. As a result, the demand for calendars has decreased, requiring publishers to constantly change the design and style of their calendar products, while also developing strategies to attract customers.

Although the market for Lunar New Year calendars is always fluctuating due to its "seasonal" nature, hanging and displaying Lunar New Year calendars remains a beautiful cultural tradition preserved by many families.
