Pepper prices today, September 20, 2024, in the domestic market continued to plummet in some key localities, trading from 148,000 - 150,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, pepper price today in Gia Lai is at 148,000 VND/kg.
Pepper prices today in the provinces of Dong Nai (148,000 VND/kg); Dak Lak (150,500 VND/kg); Dak Nong (150,000 VND/kg); Ba Ria - Vung Tau (148,000 VND/kg) and Binh Phuoc (148,000 VND/kg).
Thus, continuing the decline of the past two days, domestic pepper prices today plummeted in other key localities. The highest pepper price is at 150,000 VND/kg.
Preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association show that in the first 15 days of September 2024, Vietnam exported 6,917 tons of pepper, with a total export turnover of 42.3 million USD.
The main exporting enterprises include: Olam Vietnam: 970 tons, Phuc Sinh: 743 tons, Haprosimex JSC: 568 tons, Tran Chau: 561 tons and Nedspice Vietnam: 480 tons.
On the other hand, Vietnam imported 706 tons, with a total import turnover of 3.7 million USD. Olam Vietnam, Tran Chau and Phuc Thinh were the three largest importers, reaching 149 tons, 109 tons and 105 tons. Indonesia and Brazil were still the two main pepper suppliers to Vietnam, reaching 359 tons and 245 tons.
Meanwhile, the latest figures from the General Department of Customs are slightly higher. Accordingly, Vietnam's pepper exports in the first half of September reached 7,278 tons, worth 45.4 million USD, up 1.1% in volume and up 72.4% in value compared to the same period last year.
Accumulated from the beginning of the year to September 15, pepper exports reached 190,208 tons, worth 923.3 million USD, down 2.5% in volume but up 44% in value over the same period.
Pepper export prices in the first half of September averaged 6,239 USD/ton, up 3.8% compared to August and up 70.5% compared to the same period last year. In the first 9 months of the year, pepper export prices averaged 4,854 tons, up 47.7% compared to 3,286 USD/ton in the same period in 2023.

Regarding the supply market, Indonesia and Brazil are still the two main pepper supplying countries to Vietnam with volumes reaching 359 tons and 245 tons respectively.
In the world market, at the end of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) at 7,589 USD/ton, down 0.08%; the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 at 7,000 USD/ton; the price of Kuching black pepper (Malaysia) ASTA at 8,800 USD/ton.
Muntok white pepper price is 9,154 USD/ton, down 0.08%; Malaysian ASTA white pepper price is at 10,900 USD/ton.
Vietnam black pepper prices are trading at 6,800 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 7,100 USD/ton for 550 g/l; and 10,150 USD/ton for white pepper. IPC reduced pepper prices in Indonesia while keeping them stable in other countries.
