Pepper price today, November 26, 2024 in the domestic market is stable in some key localities, trading from 139,000 - 140,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, pepper price today in Gia Lai is at 139,500 VND/kg.

Pepper prices today in the provinces of Dong Nai (139,500 VND/kg); Dak Lak (140,000 VND/kg); Dak Nong (140,000 VND/kg); Ba Ria - Vung Tau (140,000 VND/kg) and Binh Phuoc (139,000 VND/kg).

Thus, domestic pepper prices today are stable in most key growing areas. The highest pepper price remains at 140,000 VND/kg.

Experts say that there are no signs of a strong impact on the market next week. Domestic prices are still hovering around 140,000 VND/kg, and the actual buying and selling volume is not much. In terms of trends, the upward momentum is still highly appreciated.

After 10 years, Vietnam's pepper exports have regained the 1 billion USD mark and are forecast to set a new record of 1.3 billion USD for the whole year 2024. Accordingly, the whole country will enter a new harvest in a few months. According to experts, the output of the next crop will reach about 170,000 tons.

In some key pepper producing areas of Vietnam such as Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Dak Lak, output in the upcoming harvest is at risk of decreasing due to the influence of many factors.

According to the Binh Phuoc Provincial Statistics Office, from the beginning of 2024 to now, the province's pepper growing area has decreased by 709 hectares compared to the same period in 2023. Currently, the whole province has 12,878 hectares, with an estimated output of 22,616 tons (down 874 tons compared to the same period last year).

The reason is that due to low prices, people do not invest much in care, leading to poor growth and disease. Some pepper areas have been converted by people to grow fruit trees and crops.

In Ba Ria - Vung Tau, at present, pepper gardens are in the fruit growing stage to prepare for the harvest around mid-January 2025. However, before that, due to the impact of unfavorable weather, pepper flowers fell off, so the fruit set rate was low, and the risk of crop failure was high.

According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, the pepper growing area of the province is currently about 10,500 hectares. Although pepper prices have started to increase again since the 2023 crop year, farmers have focused on investing in and caring for pepper plants, but due to the impact of the weather, it is forecasted that this year's pepper crop will have a sharp decrease in output compared to last year.

In Dak Lak, according to many farmers, pepper is a sensitive plant that is easily affected by erratic weather. This year, the prolonged drought, hot and dry weather and low humidity are not favorable for pepper to flower, pollinate and set fruit. Therefore, there has been a situation where pepper spikes are scratched a lot, and the flowers are short and sparse.

Brazil is currently the world’s second largest producer and exporter of black pepper, accounting for 17-18% of global supply. However, the country’s pepper exports in the 2024 crop will decrease, marking a decline for three consecutive years, due to low output. Meanwhile, Vietnam’s new 2025 pepper crop is expected to be delayed by one month, which will have a positive impact on world pepper prices.
