On the morning of June 28, more than 1 million candidates nationwide completed the 2024 high school graduation exam in the social sciences (history, geography, civics) or natural sciences (physics, chemistry, biology). At the Nguyen Du High School exam site (District 10, Ho Chi Minh City), many candidates left in an excited and happy mood, ready for the foreign language exam, which is also the last exam, which will take place this afternoon.
Truong Trong Nhan, a student at Nguyen Du High School, said he was "quite surprised" by the physics exam because the questions were not usually found in exam preparation materials. "The physics exam had old formulas for lower grades, so I struggled to solve them, but I was able to solve 16/40 chemistry questions. However, because I had been admitted early, I did not feel any pressure from the exam and was quite relaxed regardless of the result," Nhan confided.
Studying at the same school, Lam An Thinh shared that he was impressed by some of the physics questions, especially the last one about determining the age of a wooden artifact using the carbon method. "The question gives the number of carbon elements, so I can use the half-life to solve it. I hope I get this question right. Overall, I think I will get a score of 8.5-9 in physics, and around 5-6 in biology and chemistry," said the male student taking the A01 block (math, physics, English).
The test was just right, making candidates and parents "breathe a sigh of relief"
The last question also caught the attention of Ho Quang Minh, a student at Nguyen Du High School. According to Minh, he has done many types of questions related to antiques, "but this time the questions were very strange, the facts were very different from the reference questions and the school rarely gave practice for this type of question." "I found the questions differentiated candidates well. I hope I will get 8 points for each subject," said the male student who was admitted early to Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics through the method of considering academic records and evaluation.
Huynh Thi Yen Nhi, a self-study candidate, said that the last 10 questions on physics and chemistry were "quite good". Nhi added that the facts in the test were also practical and applicable in life, such as talking about saving electricity. "I chose a gap year and am working as a pet sitter. I hope to learn more about veterinary medicine", the 19-year-old student said.

Bui Long Duc, a student at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School, commented that the last 5 questions of the physics test had quite long data, taking up an entire page. Meanwhile, the previous 35 questions were contained in 3/4 of the page. "The last questions were as long as the reading comprehension in the literature test and required a lot of time to read and understand. However, I found the physics test not as difficult as last year and I was able to do up to question 35. As for chemistry, I was 'failed' because these subjects were not used for admission," Duc said.
At the Nguyen Du High School exam site, some independent candidates left in an excited mood.
After completing the combined test, this afternoon (June 28), more than 1 million candidates continued to take the foreign language test in 60 minutes, of which 66,927 candidates registered to be exempted from the foreign language test (accounting for 6.25% of the total number of candidates). The test results are expected to be announced on July 17.
