Both U17 Vietnam and U17 Australia teams started the match quite openly in the opening match of Group B - 2025 AFC U17 Championship Finals. However, U17 Australia was still the better team thanks to the advantage in speed and physique. The two flanks of U17 Vietnam were exploited quite a lot in the first minutes.

Quite stuck when approaching the goal, U17 Australia proactively launched many long-range shots but were not very effective. However, in the 28th minute, Australia was awarded a penalty when a player was fouled in the penalty area. Fortunately for U17 Vietnam, the shot of captain Quinn MacNicol of U17 Australia hit the crossbar.

Despite escaping defeat in this situation, just over 10 minutes later, U17 Vietnam conceded a goal. Quinn MacNicol made up for his mistake with a beautiful long-range shot from the edge of the penalty area. Goalkeeper Hoa Xuan Tin stood rooted to the spot in front of a difficult shot from U17 Australia.
In the second half, U17 Vietnam unexpectedly equalized 1-1 in the 50th minute. At a very narrow angle, Hoang Trong Duy Khang was still able to launch a delicate shot to put the ball into the net. The unexpected equalizer made U17 Vietnam's fighting spirit rise in the following minutes.

The two teams then traded blows and had many dangerous opportunities for the opponent's goal. In the 90+8 minute, Nguyen Luc fired a shot towards the Australian goal, unfortunately the ball bounced off the post and went out. In the end, U17 Vietnam drew 1-1 with U17 Australia.

The 1-1 draw also accurately reflected the match between U17 Vietnam and U17 Australia. Coach Roland and his team will have to wait for the match between U17 Japan and U17 UAE to determine the opponent's strength as well as the group situation. 1 point against Australia helps the "Golden Star Warriors" continue to confidently prepare for the next matches.
