Mr. Nguyen Cong Long - General Director of Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) - said on July 28 that the Ho Chi Minh City Air Traffic Control Center has just been topped out.
Currently, the joint venture contractor is pouring concrete for the roof slab of the 6th floor of the administration building.
This project has a total investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND, and was started in February under the urgent construction order of the Ministry of Transport. To date, the contractor has achieved progress nearly 2 months ahead of schedule compared to the expected time frame according to the contract.
The new air traffic control center in Ho Chi Minh City replaces the existing air traffic control center which is deteriorating. The new center includes a main administration building with an area of 2,360m2 in Tan Binh district, an electrical engineering station, 2 antenna towers along with technical infrastructure, specialized equipment, and auxiliary works.
When completed, the new center will provide air traffic control, surveillance, aviation communications, air traffic flow management, etc. services for all civil and military transport operations.
According to the investor, the construction of the project is expected to be completed on April 18, 2025. The installation of specialized air traffic management equipment will be completed in December 2025.
