On November 20, according to a report from the provincial Center for Disease Control, a case of Japanese encephalitis was recorded in the province. This is the fifth case of Japanese encephalitis since the beginning of the year.
The patient is TXH (male, 38 years old, residing in Ea Rieng commune, M'Drak district). According to the patient's family, on October 27, at home, the patient had symptoms of fever and fatigue. He bought medicine but it did not help. On October 30, the patient was taken by his family to the Central Highlands General Hospital for examination and treatment.
On November 1, the patient was transferred to Cho Ray Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City for continued treatment. On November 16, the patient was transferred from Cho Ray Hospital to the Central Highlands General Hospital for continued treatment with a diagnosis of Japanese encephalitis. Currently, the patient is in a coma, on a ventilator, and is being treated at the Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Department, Central Highlands General Hospital.

According to the assessment of the provincial Center for Disease Control, the environment around the patient's house has ponds, stagnant water, near the house there are rice fields, the patient's house raises cows. Investigating the disease vector, the authorities recorded the presence of Culex mosquitoes, which are vectors of Japanese Encephalitis B in the community.
Immediately after recording the case, the Provincial Center for Disease Control coordinated with the M'Drak District Medical Center and Ea Rieng Commune Health Station to implement measures to treat the environment around the patient's house, while promoting propaganda to raise people's awareness in implementing disease prevention measures.
