Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong presented the certificate recognizing the Han Nom documents of Truong Luu village as a documentary heritage under the Memory of the World Programme for the Asia- Pacific region to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai and the local authorities of Can Loc district.

The commemoration ceremony marking the 310th anniversary of the birth of Thám hoa Nguyễn Huy Oánh (1713 - 2023), the 280th anniversary of the birth of the renowned figure Nguyễn Huy Tự (1743 - 2023), the 240th anniversary of the birth of the renowned figure Nguyễn Huy Hổ (1783 - 2023), and the reception of the Certificate recognizing the Hán Nôm texts of Trường Lưu village as documentary heritage under the Memory of the World Programme for the Asia- Pacific region, was solemnly organized by the People's Committee of Hà Tĩnh province this morning (June 24) at the Hà Tĩnh Cultural and Cinema Center.
The art program celebrates the anniversaries of the distinguished figures of the Nguyen Huy family and announces the Certificate recognizing the Han Nom texts of Truong Luu village as a heritage.
In a solemn and sacred atmosphere, everyone was filled with pride. Professor and Academician Nguyen Huy Hoang (Moscow, Russian Federation) expressed: “The commemoration of the distinguished figures of the Nguyen Huy family and the reception of the UNESCO certificate recognizing the Han Nom texts of Truong Luu village as a heritage is an event of immense significance for me personally and for the people of Can Loc and Ha Tinh . I feel very excited and proud that our ancestors' cultural heritage has been honored by UNESCO and that the government at all levels organized such a solemn reception ceremony.”

The ceremony began with a vibrant yet profound artistic performance. With the folk song suite "The Glorious Land of Learning in Truong Luu," the artists and performers of the Ha Tinh Traditional Arts Theatre recreated the historical progress of a studious village, the birthplace of renowned figures who brought glory to the homeland of Hong Mountain and La River on the map of Vietnam.
The art program recreates the image of the scholars from the ancient Trường Lưu village.
That was Thám hoa Nguyễn Huy Oánh (1713 - 1789), one of the most prominent figures who contributed to building the reputation of the village for its scholarly achievements and culture. He was the "founder" of Phúc Giang Library and Trường Lưu School - a village school second only to the Quốc Tử Giám (Imperial Academy) in the capital during a period of the monarchical era. Thousands of scholars from Thăng Long (Hanoi) to the Hoan Châu region studied there and passed the Hương, Hội, and Đình examinations from the 18th to the early 20th centuries.
These include Nguyen Huy Tu (1743-1790), the eldest son of Nguyen Huy Oanh, who possessed both strategic talent and made significant contributions to the prestige of the Phuc Giang Library and the Luu School, leaving behind the literary work "Hoa Tien," which has been remembered for generations. Also noteworthy is the renowned Nguyen Huy Ho (1783-1841) – one of Nguyen Huy Tu's outstanding sons. Besides his exceptional skills in medicine and geography, he also left behind the valuable literary work "Mai Dinh Mong Ky"…
Beyond recreating the cultural space of Truong Luu, a land of learning and poetry that flourished in the past, the art program also immerses the audience in the mountainous region of Hong and the La River of today, showcasing the inheritance of ancestral culture, unwavering resilience in the struggle to protect the homeland, and strong creativity in building an increasingly prosperous and beautiful homeland. It intensifies pride in the cultural values of our ancestors and the aspiration to cultivate and build a better future.
The performance space for the traditional folk singing style of the Vải ward in the old Trường Lưu village was recreated in the celebratory art program.
Ms. Tran Thu Giang (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi) said: “Attending the commemoration ceremony, I understand even more clearly the history and cultural values that generations of people in Ha Tinh have created. I admire and am even more proud of the people and culture of my homeland, the land of Hong Mountain and La River, including the famous figures of Truong Luu village. They have created immense values, contributing to enriching the cultural and historical heritage of the Vietnamese nation.”

Following the commemorative ceremony, a solemn procession was held to present the certificate recognizing the Han Nom texts of Truong Luu village as a documentary heritage under the UNESCO Memory of the World Programme for Asia and the Pacific. Along the nearly 27-kilometer route from Ha Tinh City to Truong Luu village (Kim Song Truong commune, Can Loc district), the procession paraded amidst the excitement and anticipation of thousands of Ha Tinh residents. Particularly at the reception point in Kim Song Truong commune, hundreds of people gathered early, eagerly awaiting the certificate of recognition to arrive in their hometown, amidst a flurry of flags, flowers, and banners.
Mr. Dao Quyen Truong, Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Diplomacy and UNESCO (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), expressed: “I witnessed the pride on the faces of the people of Ha Tinh in general and the people of Kim Song Truong in particular. This shows the awareness of cherishing and preserving the heritage left by their ancestors. Along with the Han Nom documents of Truong Luu village and the distinguished figures of the Nguyen Huy family honored today, Ha Tinh possesses an inexhaustible treasure of cultural heritage that not every region has. The people of Ha Tinh have the right to be proud and to utilize this treasure as an internal strength to build their homeland in the new context.”

The inherent strength of Ha Tinh's culture is amplified in the assessments of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism regarding the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage values in recent times. Mr. Hoang Dao Cuong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, affirmed that Ha Tinh's cultural heritage is an incredibly rich, unique, and valuable treasure, with many heritages of national, regional, and international significance. Among these are the contributions of the prominent figures of the Nguyen Huy family and the cultural heritage of Truong Luu village. It is rare to find a place with such a rich cultural history as Truong Luu village (Kim Song Truong commune, Can Loc district). Throughout the nation's history, cultural figures from Truong Luu village such as Nguyen Huy Oanh, Nguyen Huy Tu, Nguyen Huy Ho, etc., have made significant contributions to the nation in many fields: education, literature, military, and more.

The leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also suggested to Ha Tinh province directions for exploiting the soft power of Truong Luu village's heritage in the future, such as: promptly planning Truong Luu Cultural Village, leveraging resources, developing a comprehensive plan for research, inventory, and collection, promoting the application of digital transformation, focusing on exploiting, preserving, and promoting the values of tangible, intangible, and documentary cultural heritage; and urging clans and owners/managers of the heritage to uphold their responsibilities, promote the traditions of this land of outstanding people, and continue to work together with the State to protect and exploit the cultural heritage treasure effectively and scientifically, considering it a great honor and responsibility of each citizen towards their homeland.
The sons and daughters of Truong Luu village who have left their hometowns return home, eagerly awaiting the moment when the Certificate recognizing the Truong Luu village's Han Nom texts as a cultural heritage will be brought back to the locality.
Along with the Han Nom texts, Truong Luu village in Ha Tinh province currently possesses five cultural heritage sites and historical figures recognized by UNESCO: Ca Tru singing, Vi and Giam folk songs of Nghe Tinh, the Truong Hoc Phuc Giang woodblock prints, Hoang Hoa Su Trinh Do, and the great poet Nguyen Du. Currently, the great physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac has been proposed by the Vietnamese government for UNESCO recognition (expected in 2024). In addition, the province has over 1,800 historical and cultural relics and scenic spots, including 2 special national relics, 86 national relics, and 550 provincial relics. This is the inherent strength and driving force behind the continuous efforts of the people of Ha Tinh throughout history.

During the war, countless heroes, martyrs, soldiers, and compatriots from Ha Tinh province became immortal monuments in the battles to defend the Fatherland. In peacetime, many sons and daughters of Truong Luu commune in particular and Ha Tinh province in general have continuously strived and achieved many accomplishments, contributing to the building and protection of the country. Notable examples include professors and doctors such as Hoang Xuan Han, Le Van Thiem, Nguyen Huy Hoang, Nguyen Huy My, and others.
Following in the footsteps of their predecessors, in the new era, Ha Tinh has produced many outstanding students who have achieved numerous accomplishments in national and international competitions, such as: Trinh Kim Chi - Gold Medalist at the 1998 Southeast Asian Mathematical Olympiad; Le Nam Truong - Silver Medalist at the 2006 International Mathematical Olympiad; Vo Anh Duc - Gold Medalist at the 2013 International Mathematical Olympiad; Nguyen Thi Viet Ha - Bronze Medalist at the 2015 International Mathematical Olympiad; Phan Nhat Duy - Gold Medalist at the 2017 International Mathematical Olympiad; Nguyen Dinh Dai - Silver Medalist at the 2017 Asian Informatics Olympiad; Phan Xuan Hanh - Gold Medalist at the 2022 International Chemistry Olympiad...

Thinking about the values of the cultural heritage of Truong Luu village and the vast "treasure" of the cultural heritage of our homeland, Hong Mountain and La River, left behind by previous generations, everyone becomes even more confident in the policies and guidelines of the Party and State in applying culture to national development today.
This was also the message emphasized by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau at the ceremony: With the motto " promoting democracy, unity, will, aspirations, cultural values and the strength of the people of Ha Tinh ," Ha Tinh is actively and effectively implementing the contents of the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress and the 13th National Party Congress; implementing the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; focusing intensely on major socio-economic programs and projects; paying attention to investing in and exploiting the potential and advantages of culture and tourism, in order to ensure harmonious and sustainable development; the system of tangible and intangible cultural heritage in the province is being cared for, preserved and promoted, contributing to traditional education and promoting the socio-economic development of the province.

The event commemorating the birth years of the prominent figures of the Nguyen Huy family and receiving the Certificate of Recognition for the Nom Heritage of Truong Luu village has once again highlighted the traditional cultural values of Ha Tinh; awakened the strong aspirations of the inhabitants of the Hong - La mountainous region; and affirmed that the cultural heritage of Truong Luu village in particular and the cultural traditions of Ha Tinh in general are an inexhaustible treasure, a driving force for new creations in Ha Tinh today and in the future…
