Due to her old age and weak health, Ms. Luong Thi Hai (91 years old, Yet Kieu ward, Ha Dong district, Hanoi) received her pension at home without having to go to the payment points. According to Ms. Hai, she worked at the Agricultural Mechanical Factory and retired in April 1984 with a social insurance benefit of 290 VND at that time. Up to now, after many adjustments by the State, Ms. Hai's benefit is 4,813,100 VND, an increase of 627,800 VND compared to the salary of June 2024 (4,185,300 VND).

In addition to her pension, Mrs. Hai is also given a free health insurance card. Thanks to that, when she is sick, she is supported to pay part of the cost of medical examination and treatment. Being financially independent, she can rest assured to enjoy her old age.

In July 2018, Ms. Le Thi Chi (61 years old, Kien Hung ward, Ha Dong district, Hanoi) was eligible to receive a pension. Before that, after participating in compulsory social insurance, when she retired, she continued to participate in voluntary social insurance for 5 years and 4 months (paying once for the missing years) to be eligible for pension.

On the afternoon of July 1, Ms. Le Thi Chi (61 years old, Kien Hung ward, Ha Dong district, Hanoi) received her pension via ATM account with the amount of 2,344,400 VND.

Early in the afternoon of July 1, Ms. Chi received her pension via ATM account in the amount of VND 2,344,400 (an increase of VND 305,800 compared to the salary in June 2024). According to Ms. Chi, receiving her salary via account is both safe and fast, she does not have to waste time going to payment points.

Mr. Nguyen Huu (Ha Dong, Hanoi) also received his pension early in the afternoon of July 1.

According to Vietnam Social Security, as of 2 p.m. on July 1, the entire social security sector had paid pensions and monthly social security benefits at the new benefit levels to more than 60% of the total number of beneficiaries. Beneficiaries who registered to receive benefits through their personal accounts were paid at the new benefit levels; the elderly and those who could not travel were paid directly at home by the social security agency. Currently, the Vietnam Social Security sector is continuing to pay for the remaining cases.

On June 29, 2024, the National Assembly passed the Resolution of the 7th session of the 15th National Assembly. According to the Resolution, from July 1, 2024, the pension, social insurance allowance and monthly allowance of June 2024 will be adjusted up by 15%. The scope of application is wide, including pensioners from compulsory social insurance participation (public and private sectors) and voluntary social insurance participants. At the same time, for pensioners before 1995, after adjustment, if the benefit level is lower than 3.2 million VND/month, the adjustment will increase by 0.3 million VND/month, if the benefit level is from 3.2 million VND/month to less than 3.5 million VND/month, the adjustment will be equal to 3.5 million VND/month.
