242 more domestically produced drugs granted circulation registration certificates

Director of the Drug Administration of Vietnam (Ministry of Health) Vu Tuan Cuong has just signed Decision 854 promulgating the list of 242 domestically produced drugs granted registration for circulation in Vietnam - batch 215.


Accordingly, drug manufacturing and registration establishments are required to: produce drugs in accordance with the records and documents registered with the Ministry of Health; print or affix the registration number issued by the Ministry of Health on the drug label; and only produce and circulate special control drugs when having a certificate of eligibility.

More drugs are produced and circulated to ensure supply for treatment needs.

Drug manufacturing and registration facilities must comply with the regulations of the Ministry of Health on updating drug quality standards and updating drug labels and instructions for use; coordinate with treatment facilities to comply with current regulations on prescription drugs, monitor the safety, effectiveness, and adverse effects of drugs on Vietnamese people.

According to Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen, with the application of information technology in receiving and appraising, the issuance of drug circulation registration numbers has been reformed and accelerated. Before 2020, the Ministry of Health issued more than 100 drug circulation registration numbers each year; in 2022, there were 2,721 and in 2023, 4,592 registration numbers. In the 11 months of 2024 alone, 13,164 drugs were issued circulation registration numbers, equal to the total of the previous 5 years.
