The storm and flood tore off the roof, swept away tables and chairs, teaching equipment, completely damaged the electricity and water system, especially a huge amount of alluvial soil buried the entire campus and classrooms; many families of the school's students were buried by landslides, and floodwaters swept away property, books, school supplies, etc.

Therefore, Ms. Vu Thu Huong, the school principal, wrote an open letter, hoping to receive sharing and support so that teachers and students can teach and learn again.

Pho Rang Secondary School No. 1 (Bao Yen District, Lao Cai) is also one of the schools with the most severe damage to facilities in the district.

Ms. Pham Hoang Ngoc Hue, Vice Principal of the school, said: Right before and during the impact of storm No. 3, the school arranged a rescue force of teachers and staff to move a certain amount of property from the first floor to the second floor, but because the flood water rose too quickly at noon, the support force was thin and could only move a certain amount of property.

Ms. Hue said that after 2 days of flooding, the water level rose so high that it submerged 5 rows of houses with many properties, causing damage and making them unusable. 17/30 families of teachers and 617 families of students were flooded or swept away by floodwaters, many people lost all their property, which meant losing all their school supplies.

Towards the North: A call for solidarity to support our compatriots after storm No. 3

"We are trying to clean up so that we can welcome students back to school from next Monday as planned, but the amount of mud and damaged equipment is too much while human resources are limited. We only hope to receive support in terms of strength, material and spirit so that students can return to school soon," Ms. Hue expressed.

Statistics from the Department of Education and Training of Bat Xat District (Lao Cai) also show that hundreds of teachers and students are in extremely difficult situations and are in dire need of support. There are cases of students who have lost their parents, but the statistics also highlight the painful words: "Lost" or "Lost the whole family".

Therefore, for many students who have just experienced the recent historic storm and flood, it is fortunate that their parents and teachers are still present when they return to school. The students and the school will be able to share and make more efforts if they receive support with books and essential teaching materials when the school year has begun.
