On the afternoon of October 12, Mr. Nguyen Dang Khoa - principal of Son Lien Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities - said he was very moved by the image of students crying like rain when Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Duy transferred jobs.
Hearing the news that the teacher was transferring schools, students from all classes surrounded him and cried like rain.
Students cried like rain when they knew their teacher went to the lowlands to teach.
Sharing about his colleague, Mr. Khoa said that Mr. Duy is a wonderful teacher. In 13 years of working in education in Son Lien commune (the most remote commune in the province), Mr. Duy has devoted all his love to the students here.
"There was a student who met Mr. Duy when he was in first grade. He is now in ninth grade and is studying at the school. When he heard that he was transferred, he couldn't hold back his tears. The teacher also cried when he saw how much love his students had for him," said Mr. Khoa.
Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online , teacher Duy said that on the evening of October 10, he went to the school's boarding house to say goodbye to his students.
"I originally came to say goodbye to my students and tell the students of class 4B that I was in charge of to try hard in their studies. But I was very surprised when not only the students of class 4B but the students of the whole school burst into tears. At that time, I was also choked up, not expecting my students to love me so much," said Mr. Duy.
That emotional farewell was filmed by a teacher at the school. In the video, Mr. Duy could not hold back his tears at the love of his students.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Duy is 38 years old this year. Since graduating from school, he has been teaching in the mountainous area of Son Lien. In the blink of an eye, 13 years have passed. Mr. Duy cannot tell all the memories of this mountainous area.
There were rainy seasons when the roads collapsed and the streams "roared". So the teachers stayed at the school for a whole month, and had to go to the village to pick up the students to go to class for peace of mind. Later, there was a boarding system, so the students could stay at school and study without having to travel far and wide.
But the responsibility to students is much greater, teachers must share and do all the love of parents.
"Perhaps during the time at boarding school, the teachers and I were close, worried, and cared for, so the children felt and loved me in particular and the teachers at school in general," Mr. Duy confided.

Full of emotions when leaving the difficult area
On October 14, Mr. Duy will officially teach at Nghia Ha Primary School (Quang Ngai City). Leaving the school he has been attached to for 13 years, Mr. Duy has both common and personal concerns.
Personally, teaching in the city will make it easier to take care of his sick mother and two young children, aged 5 and 7. For a long time, his wife has been taking care of the children so that he can work with peace of mind. Now that he is teaching near home, Mr. Duy can make up for and share his wife's hardships over the years.
As for the common good, he was sad to say goodbye to his students in Son Lien commune - where he devoted his entire youth. "Everything in the mountains is difficult, the children lack both material and spiritual things. To go to school, they have to try very hard to learn the letters and need loving teachers to help them stay attached to school.
I will definitely come back to visit the school and my students in the future. I hope they will have good academic achievements and change their lives," Mr. Duy confided.

On his personal Facebook, Mr. Duy wrote: "...Sorry for not being able to continue the journey with Son Lien education. Sorry to class 4B for not being able to go with you all the way to the end of the journey. Nothing more, I wish all of you, Son Lien Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, Son Tay colleagues, and friends, Son Tay brothers and sisters, good health and success. See you again."
The video of "students crying like rain to see off their teacher" went viral on social media, touching everyone, and the teachers were also sad to say goodbye to their lovely colleague.
"From that day until now, I am still very sad. I know that Duy's work in the lowlands will be more convenient for taking care of his old mother and young children. But somewhere, I still hope that teacher Duy will stay here. Thank you for devoting all your love to education in the mountainous region," said teacher Nguyen Dang Khoa, principal of Son Lien Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.
