From ideas on paper to the journey of maturity of young Vietnamese people
The 7th National Startup Festival has just ended at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, but the echoes of the spirit of innovation, creativity and aspiration from thousands of young people still linger.
The vibrant atmosphere at the idea exhibition booths, expert forums, and passionate presentations by student groups fueled the belief that today's young generation is writing their own future.
Speaking at the festival, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Kim Chi shared: “Starting a business is not simply a career choice, it is the way each student learns how to create the future with their own hands and minds.”
From that spirit, Project 1665 “Supporting students to start a business” has accompanied for the past 7 years, gradually making start-ups a part of the school environment. More than 120 universities have included start-ups in their training programs, many schools have established creative spaces, idea support centers, where students can experience and even be sent to grow with their ideas.

However, the journey is not easy. Deputy Minister Kim Chi frankly said: “Many young people only have beautiful ideas on paper, not enough conditions to realize them. Lack of skills, lack of experience and lack of long-term support are gaps that we need to fill together.”
There are still unfinished projects due to lack of capital, and fears of failure that have not been overcome. But from there, the call to build a synchronous startup ecosystem from policy, schools to businesses and the community becomes more urgent.
The most touching thing probably comes from the simple sharing of the students: There are groups that have failed, but came back stronger this season. There are groups that have won awards, but the most precious thing to them is not the certificate of merit, but the journey of working together, staying up all night to perfect the model.
“Whether they win the prize or not, the important thing is that they have really worked hard to create and fuel their startup dreams for themselves and the community,” said Deputy Minister Kim Chi.
In the context of digital transformation and comprehensive integration, entrepreneurship is no longer a matter of the economic or technological sectors alone. It is a common journey of young people who know how to dream and dare to act.
And as the Deputy Minister’s final message: “This year’s Startup Festival is the end of Project 1665, but not the end of the journey. I believe that with new projects, new policies and support from many sides, the young generation will continue to write dreams and aspirations for a startup nation – where young people take control of their own future.”
Closing the program, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Chi, on behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, awarded the Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in supporting students to start a business in the period 2017-2025. At the same time, she also directly awarded the prize of the 7th "Students with Startup Ideas" Contest, adding motivation and confidence to young people who are embarking on the path of creativity and dedication.
