Established in 2014, the Ngo Thi Nham Scholarship and Talent Promotion Fund (Tam Diep City) awards scholarships to approximately 300 students each year, totaling nearly 400 million VND. These gifts have served as timely encouragement for students to strive for greater academic achievements.
Upon receiving his award from the Ngo Thi Nham Scholarship Fund, Vu Khac Manh, a former student of class 12A at Nguyen Hue High School, was deeply moved. Manh is an orphan, his father passed away, and his mother single-handedly raised him and his brother with her meager factory worker's salary. Not wanting to disappoint his mother, Manh was diligent, academically excellent, and a source of pride for his family and school. In the 2022-2023 school year, Manh won second prize in the provincial-level 12th-grade Mathematics competition. Following that, in the recent university entrance exam, with a score of 28.3 in the A1 group – including 9.6 in Mathematics – Manh was admitted to the Foreign Trade University, Faculty of International Economics .
Sharing about the "double joy" of the past year, Mạnh said: "Since my father passed away when I was in 7th grade, my mother has taken his place as the emotional and material support for my siblings and me. My biggest motivation for studying is to try my best to excel in school so that I can repay her kindness and become her pride in the future. Every achievement I've made is a joy and a source of pride for my family, and I've been honored and rewarded by the school, the city, and especially the Ngô Thì Nhậm Scholarship and Talent Promotion Fund."
That practical and timely support is a great source of encouragement for me to achieve new academic successes. As I'm about to start at my new school, I'm striving to become independent from my second year onwards by working as a tutor and "hunting" for scholarships. When I'm older, I'll return to help underprivileged children, so they can confidently go to school just like I did.
Established in 2014, the Ngo Thi Nham Scholarship and Talent Promotion Fund awards approximately 400 million VND annually to 300 students with outstanding academic achievements. In the 2022-2023 school year alone, the Fund awarded prizes to 68 students who won awards in various student excellence competitions from the city to the national level; top scorers in the high school entrance exam; and students who achieved high scores in the recent high school graduation exam. These timely awards have been highly significant, motivating and encouraging students to excel academically and affirming the high-quality education of the locality.
Specifically, in the 2022-2023 school year, the number and quality of awards in various competitions such as: the selection of outstanding students in 9th grade cultural subjects, the science and technology competition, the sports competition for high school students; and intellectual competitions and playgrounds for primary and secondary school students... in Tam Diep city have been increasingly improved. Accordingly, the entire city had 36 students winning awards in the provincial-level selection of outstanding students in 9th grade cultural subjects; 2 projects won provincial-level awards in the science and technology competition for high school students; and many students won gold, silver, bronze, and honorable mention awards at the national level in competitions such as: Violympic Math-English; Violympic Math-Vietnamese; IOE English…

In particular, during the 2022-2023 school year, Tam Diep city had one junior high school student win a gold medal at the Asian Mathematical Olympiad (AIMO) held in Malaysia; for the high school level competition, Nguyen Hue High School won first place and the City's Vocational Education and Continuing Education Center won third place in the work of nurturing gifted students…
This year, in addition to awarding prizes to students with high academic achievements, the Fund Management Board also awarded scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have excelled in their studies. These include orphans, students from poor or near-poor households, and students with disabilities. Despite their difficult circumstances, many students have strived to achieve excellent academic results. Of the 153 disadvantaged students who received scholarships this year, over 57 achieved excellent or top academic performance throughout the school year.
Mr. Duong Quoc Hung, Deputy Head of the Ngo Thi Nham Scholarship and Talent Promotion Fund Management Board, said: "Caring for, supporting, and motivating disadvantaged students to continue their education is one of the tasks that the City's Scholarship Promotion Association has focused on for many years. For example, in 2021, 90 disadvantaged students across the city received scholarships under the 'Helping Students Continue Their Education' program, totaling nearly 400 million VND. In 2022, 20 students received this scholarship, totaling nearly 100 million VND."
In reality, many students are from extremely disadvantaged backgrounds and need the support and assistance of the community to broaden their path to education. Therefore, starting this year, the Ngo Thi Nhậm Scholarship and Talent Promotion Fund will focus on and mobilize scholarship funding for children from difficult circumstances.
