Speaking at the forum, Director of the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center Nguyen Huu Trung said: The Livestock sector of Thanh Hoa province is one of the top 5 provinces in the country in terms of total herd. The buffalo herd is over 116,000, ranking 2nd; the pig herd is over 1.28 million, ranking 3rd; the poultry herd is 27.9 million, ranking 4th; the cow herd is 210,200, ranking 5th nationwide. Although there are times when there are many difficulties and challenges due to epidemics and market prices, the livestock sector still maintains a good growth rate. The average value of the livestock sector in the period 2021-2024 reached 5.71%, in 2024 alone it reached 6.7%, the highest ever. Epidemic prevention work has been implemented methodically and drastically, minimizing damage when an epidemic occurs. In particular, in 2024 and the first months of 2025, while the epidemic situation across the country is complicated, in Thanh Hoa the epidemic is still well controlled.
