On the morning of December 24, the Ministry of Health held a conference to deploy health work in 2024. Comrade Le Thanh Long, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister attended and delivered a speech at the conference. According to the report of the Ministry of Health, in 2024, the health sector completed 3/3 of the main socio-economic targets assigned by the National Assembly, including exceeding 2 assigned targets on the number of doctors and the number of hospital beds per 10,000 people, achieving the target on the rate of population participating in health insurance; basically completing the major targets of the sector and fields in 2024 assigned by the Government. Medical examination and treatment services continued to improve in quality and efficiency with the spirit of taking the patient as the center, improving patient satisfaction; many advanced medical techniques were successfully applied. Infectious diseases continued to be controlled.
The direction and management work has been carried out resolutely and synchronously. The sector has focused on directing, guiding, and gradually removing difficulties and obstacles, while strengthening the inspection and supervision of the implementation of tasks. Institutional building continues to be focused on and perfected. In particular, in 2024, for the first time, the Ministry of Health has developed and advised the Government to submit to the National Assembly for approval 2 Laws in one session (Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Pharmacy and Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance).
The organizational structure continues to be improved and reorganized towards streamlining, effectiveness and efficiency; improving the capacity of preventive medicine and grassroots health care; implementing programs and projects on population work. Currently, the Ministry of Health is urgently and seriously carrying out the assigned tasks in receiving tasks from the Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs in accordance with the direction of the General Secretary as well as the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister...

However, access to central and tertiary hospitals in terms of technical expertise in some areas is still limited; some infectious diseases are still at high risk; the expanded vaccination rate in the past 3 years has not reached 90%; shortages of drugs, supplies and medical equipment due to lack of supply or untimely bidding still occur in many places.
In 2025, the health sector will focus and prioritize time and resources on building and perfecting institutions and legal corridors in the field of medical examination and treatment.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long acknowledged and commended the achievements of the health sector in 2024.
Regarding the tasks for 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long requested the health sector to focus on improving institutions and laws, removing difficulties and obstacles to develop a quality, effective, fair, transparent and sustainable health system. Ensure the progress and quality of draft laws, projects and policies assigned to the Ministry of Health in the National Assembly's 2025 Law and Ordinance Development Program and the Government's 2025 Work Program.
Along with that, the Ministry of Health continues to consolidate and arrange the "streamlined - compact - strong - efficient - effective - effective" apparatus, ensuring compliance with the general orientation; effectively implement the Health Facility Network Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; Project to arrange hospitals under the Ministry of Health for the period 2023-2030. Implement solutions to mobilize resources and speed up the implementation of investment projects for health... In the field of medical examination and treatment, the Ministry of Health continues to synchronously implement solutions to improve the quality of medical services and people's satisfaction.
