Dismantling construction violations in Vuong Hong Sen relic

(Dan Tri) - Ho Chi Minh City has completed the forced demolition of the area that violated construction order inside the ancient house of Mr. Vuong Hong Sen. The area is being sealed and protected to prevent re-encroachment.

On March 27, the People's Committee of Binh Thanh District informed about the results of the enforcement of the construction at the traditional civil ancient house relic of Mr. Vuong Hong Sen. The authorities completed the enforcement on March 25.

At the time of enforcement, households residing inside the relic had already relocated their assets. The enforcement team dismantled the entire area that violated construction order and sealed the enforcement area.

Currently, the works inside the relic have been protected by security forces, preventing individuals and households from re-encroaching. The People's Committee of Binh Thanh District also requested the Department of Culture and Sports to soon advise on the establishment of the Management Board of Ancient House Cultural Heritage to ensure the management, maintenance and repair of the relic.

Because the old house is seriously degraded and at risk of collapse, the Department of Culture and Sports needs to take over management and have a plan for maintenance and repair.

At the meeting, the district authorities also acknowledged the opinions of Mr. Vuong Hong Sen's family on the issue of early settlement of benefits and stabilization of life for related individuals. The People's Committee of Binh Thanh District also requested the Department of Culture and Sports to coordinate with agencies to implement these proposals.

Previously, the Department of Culture and Sports said that with its typical architectural values, the ancient house of Mr. Vuong Hong Sen needs to be preserved and its value promoted. This house needs to be kept in its current state for restoration and embellishment to display and preserve artifacts, documents, and valuable books and serve the people and tourists to visit, study, and research according to the wishes of the culturalist and scholar Vuong Hong Sen during his lifetime.

The architectural and artistic relic of Mr. Vuong Hong Sen's Traditional Civil House was ranked according to the decision of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in 2003. Currently, the building has many degraded points.

From 1996 to present, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City has coordinated with relevant units to conduct surveys at the relic many times. In 2021, 2022, 2023, the Department of Culture and Sports, the Department of Construction and other units conducted field surveys at the relic, worked with the heirs of Mr. Vuong Hong Sen to advise and report to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City on the architectural and artistic relic of the Traditional Civil Ancient House of Mr. Vuong Hong Sen.
