Lao Cai City has upgraded more than 30 inner-city roads (small roads now upgraded and expanded according to the criteria of a type I urban area), and at the same time implemented a model of undergrounding power lines and telecommunication cables to modernize the urban area.

Currently, the city is synchronously upgrading 11 routes including: Hoang Van Thu, Chu Van An, Road D1 (Cam Duong commune), Hoang Lien, Hung Hoa, Le Thanh, Ngo Quyen, Le Lai, Luong Van Can, Hoang Quoc Viet and Provincial Road 156 through Hop Thanh commune, with a total investment of nearly 174 billion VND.

Up to now, the city has expanded more than 30 roads and continues to strive to implement in the coming time, in the period of 2025 - 2030, it will complete and upgrade more than 100 roads and streets to ensure traffic infrastructure according to the criteria of a Type I urban area.
