Along with over 1 million candidates nationwide, on the afternoon of June 26th, approximately 90,000 candidates in Ho Chi Minh City arrived at examination centers to complete the procedures for the 2024 High School Graduation Examination.

Exam supervisors in each examination room will explain the exam regulations and schedule to the candidates so they are fully aware, and will also assist candidates in reviewing information to promptly correct any errors.

Having been admitted through the early admission method to the Finance-Banking major at the Foreign Trade University, Ho Chi Minh City Campus 2, Tuong Vi, a student from Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School, hopes to achieve a score of 24 points or higher to be officially admitted and to be considered for other nguyện vọng (preferences/choices).

Tuong Vi said: "Although I've studied quite thoroughly, I still feel nervous. I will try my best to do well on the exam to achieve the desired result."

Having already secured a place at a university, Thien Trang, a student from Trung Vuong High School, is taking the exam hoping to achieve a high score to be admitted to her dream university, the University of Health Sciences - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, through the high school graduation exam score-based admission method. Therefore, Thien Trang feels quite anxious and stressed about this exam.

Meanwhile, Dang Khoa, a student from Trung Vuong High School, took the exam with a relaxed attitude. Dang Khoa said: "In the days leading up to the exam, I didn't feel too much pressure to dedicate a lot of time to studying. In my opinion, at this time, it's important to maintain a relaxed mindset, ensuring the best possible health and mental state."

Previously, throughout the school year, Dang Khoa focused on studying and reviewing to master the knowledge. Before the exam, in addition to reinforcing students' knowledge, teachers at Dang Khoa's school also carefully instructed them about the exam regulations, such as: candidates must bring all necessary documents; only bring essential items to the exam site, avoiding bringing too many items which would take extra time to check in.

In particular, candidates are not allowed to bring prohibited items into the examination room (phones, documents, etc.) because even if they don't take them out to look at them, it will be considered a violation of the examination regulations.

This year, Ho Chi Minh City has 90,062 registered candidates, including 5,785 independent candidates. Because this is the last year the exam is being held under the 2006 General Education Program, the number of independent candidates has increased significantly compared to previous years.

In Ho Chi Minh City, 13,076 candidates were exempted from the Foreign Language exam and 87 candidates were exempted from all exams in the high school graduation examination.

This year, Ho Chi Minh City is organizing 162 examination centers, including 87 centers with independent candidates. The examination centers are spread across all districts and allocated based on the number of candidates in each area.

The city mobilized 11,796 invigilators and nearly 3,300 officials and staff to work at the examination centers.

As one of the localities with the highest number of candidates nationwide, Ho Chi Minh City had made thorough preparations beforehand to ensure the exam would be conducted safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations. All stages, from preparation to organization, involved close coordination among various forces, departments, and agencies in the city.

The transportation of exam papers and answer sheets will be carried out daily by the relevant authorities at the beginning and end of each day; exam papers and answer sheets will not be stored at the examination site overnight.

Ho Chi Minh City is also considering contingency plans for unusual situations. Departments and agencies are developing contingency plans to ensure timely and rapid handling of unusual weather conditions, cybersecurity issues, and matters related to exam preparation, invigilation, and marking.

Learning from past exams where mistakes and regrettable violations occurred due to a lack of understanding of regulations, such as unintentionally bringing mobile phones into the exam room leading to suspension or arriving late, this year the education sector is stepping up communication about exam regulations. Information about exam schedules and regulations is being disseminated through multiple channels to candidates, invigilators, and parents to ensure compliance and cooperation.

Before the exam day, along with wishing the students the best of luck in achieving their desired results, the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, Nguyen Van Hieu, reminded candidates to remember the exam regulations. In case candidates forget their documents or exam cards, they can report to the Head of the examination center for assistance. Rushing back to retrieve documents will create unnecessary stress and pressure, preventing them from performing well on the exam.

Students are not allowed to bring carbon paper, correction fluid, alcoholic beverages, weapons, explosives, flammable materials, documents, communication devices, or any other items containing information intended for cheating during the exam into the examination room.

On June 27th, the High School Graduation Examination will officially begin with the first subject, Literature, with a time limit of 120 minutes; in the afternoon, candidates will continue with the Mathematics exam, with a time limit of 90 minutes.

On June 28th, candidates will take the Natural Sciences or Social Sciences exam in the morning, with a total time of 150 minutes; the Foreign Language exam will last 60 minutes.

2024 High School Graduation Exam: Candidates should take note to avoid violating exam regulations.

Candidates taking the high school graduation exam should be punctual because if they arrive more than 15 minutes after the start time, they will not be allowed to participate in that exam session.
