As one of the localities with the largest number of high school graduation exam candidates in the country, Ho Chi Minh City has prepared conditions to ensure the exam takes place safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations.
Along with more than 1 million candidates nationwide, on the afternoon of June 26, about 90,000 candidates in Ho Chi Minh City went to examination sites to complete procedures to take the 2024 High School Graduation Exam.
Invigilators in the examination rooms disseminate the examination regulations and schedule to candidates so that they can understand clearly, and at the same time assist candidates in reviewing information to promptly correct any errors.
Having been admitted by early admission to the Finance-Banking major, Foreign Trade University, Campus 2, Ho Chi Minh City, Tuong Vi, a student at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, hopes to get 24 points or more to be officially admitted as well as to be considered for other wishes.
Tuong Vi said: "Although I have reviewed quite thoroughly, I still feel nervous. I will try my best to do well on the test to achieve the desired results."
Already having a place in a university, but Thien Trang, a student of Trung Vuong High School, took the exam with the hope of getting a high score to be admitted by considering the high school graduation exam score to her dream school, the University of Health Sciences - Ho Chi Minh City National University. Therefore, Thien Trang felt quite worried and stressed about this exam.
Meanwhile, Dang Khoa, a student at Trung Vuong High School, took the exam in a relaxed spirit. Dang Khoa said: "In the days leading up to the exam, I am not under too much pressure to spend a lot of time studying. In my opinion, at this time, I need to keep a relaxed mentality to ensure the best health and spirit."
Before that, throughout the school year, Dang Khoa had focused on studying and reviewing to master the knowledge. Before the exam, in addition to reinforcing knowledge for students, teachers at Dang Khoa's school also gave very detailed instructions on the exam regulations such as: candidates must bring all the necessary documents; should only bring necessary items to the exam site, avoid bringing too many items that will take more time to store.
In particular, candidates must not bring prohibited items into the exam room (phones, documents, etc.) because even if they do not take them out to look at, they will be considered a violation of exam regulations.
This year, Ho Chi Minh City has 90,062 candidates registered for the exam, of which 5,785 are independent candidates. Because this is the last year to organize the exam according to the 2006 General Education Program, the number of independent candidates has increased significantly compared to previous years.
Ho Chi Minh City has 13,076 candidates exempted from the Foreign Language exam and 87 candidates exempted from all exams in the High School graduation exam.
This year, Ho Chi Minh City organized 162 testing sites, of which 87 sites had independent candidates. The testing sites were arranged throughout the districts and were allocated based on the number of candidates in each area.
The city mobilized 11,796 exam invigilators and nearly 3,300 officers and employees to work on exams and serve exam sites.
As one of the localities with the largest number of candidates in the country, Ho Chi Minh City had previously prepared all conditions to ensure the exam took place safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations. All stages from preparation to organization of the exam had the close coordination of many forces, departments, and branches in the area.
The transportation of exam papers and test papers will be carried out by the authorities every day at the beginning and end of the day. Exam papers and test papers will not be kept at the testing site overnight.
Ho Chi Minh City also considers plans to handle unusual situations. Departments, branches and sectors develop preparation and backup plans to ensure timely and quick handling of unusual weather situations, network information security, issues related to exam questions, exam supervision, exam grading, etc.
Learning from previous exams, there were still regrettable mistakes and violations due to not understanding the regulations, such as unintentionally bringing a phone into the exam room, leading to suspension from the exam or being late for the exam. This year, the education sector has stepped up communication about exam regulations. Information about exam schedules, exam regulations, etc. is transmitted through many information channels to candidates, exam invigilators and parents for proper implementation and cooperation.
Before the exam day, along with his wishes for students to achieve the desired results, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training Nguyen Van Hieu continued to remind candidates to remember the exam regulations. In case candidates forget their documents or exam cards, they can go to the Head of the exam site to report to the Head of the exam site for resolution. Running back to get the time sheet will cause unnecessary stress and pressure, making it impossible for candidates to do well on the exam.
Candidates are not allowed to bring into the examination room carbon paper, correction pens, alcoholic beverages, weapons, explosives, flammable substances, documents, communication devices or information storage devices to cheat during the examination.
On June 27, the High School Graduation Exam will officially begin with the first subject being Literature, lasting 120 minutes; in the afternoon, candidates will continue with the Math exam, lasting 90 minutes.
On June 28, candidates will take the Natural Science or Social Science exam in the morning for a total of 150 minutes; in the afternoon, candidates will take the Foreign Language exam for 60 minutes./.
Candidates taking the high school graduation exam need to be on time because if they are more than 15 minutes late after the test start time signal, they will not be allowed to take part in that exam.
