On April 22, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety announced that it had decided to establish interdisciplinary inspection teams to inspect food production and trading establishments, focusing on products and establishments producing and trading items such as processed milk, nutritional products, food supplements, medical nutritional foods, foods for special diets, etc. The inspection activities will be concentrated from April 21 to the end of May 2025.
According to the City Food Safety Department, the inspection aims to assess the compliance with food safety laws by food production and trading establishments, thereby detecting, preventing and handling food safety violations and limiting and preventing food safety incidents. The activity helps the interdisciplinary force promptly detect and correct shortcomings and weaknesses in state management of food safety, and propose solutions to improve the effectiveness of food safety assurance.
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Khanh Phong Lan, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety, said that the inspection will include all legal documents such as business registration certificate, food safety certificate, product declaration file, labels, invoices, documents proving the origin of raw materials, import documents, raw materials and accessories for production, advertising documents and advertising content confirmation papers.
The inspection team also checked food safety and hygiene factors at the facility such as factory hygiene, equipment, tools, and personnel directly involved in production and business to assess the business's compliance.
The campaign was launched in the context of alarming food insecurity nationwide, typically the fake milk production line worth 500 billion VND that was recently discovered, causing confusion among consumers nationwide.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the situation of counterfeit, fake and poor quality goods, especially food, milk, functional foods, etc., is still complicated, posing many potential risks and affecting people's health./.
