Da Nang City wishes to cooperate with US businesses in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence.

DNO - Afternoon 28 - 2 ( local time ), the Da Nang City delegation led by Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh visited and worked with Ampere Company in Portland (USA).

At the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh introduced an overview of the investment and business environment, preferential policies, investment support in the semiconductor sector in the city and the city's economic development orientations in the coming time. In particular, the city identified semiconductor chips as an opportunity and a growth driver for Da Nang in the coming time.

The city's goal through meetings and working sessions with US semiconductor businesses is to have in-depth contact and raise specific issues with partners who are interested in promoting cooperation and investment in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence sectors in Da Nang.

Identifying semiconductor chips as a growth driver, the City People's Committee is developing a project "Developing semiconductor chips and microcircuits in Da Nang City" and specific mechanisms and policies to attract experts and investors to the city to work, research, cooperate in training human resources in semiconductor chips and artificial intelligence ( AI ) , and build a more attractive investment environment for businesses in the semiconductor sector.

At the same time, we commit to accompany and support investors, implement projects, production and business activities in the city, aiming to share common values and benefits.

Receiving the delegation, Technical and Production Director of Ampere Microchip Design Company Rohit Vidwans said he was very interested in the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam in general and the potential for semiconductor industry development in Da Nang in particular.

In particular, he highly appreciated the development prospects of Da Nang city and informed that the company plans to expand in Vietnam in the next 5 years to develop more labs as well as develop human resources here in addition to the branch operating in Ho Chi Minh City established since 2018.

The three groups of personnel that the company is targeting include software engineers, assembly, testing, and packaging (ATP) engineers, and design engineers.

According to Mr. Rohit Vidwans, Da Nang is a favorable location to set up the company's second office in Vietnam in the near future, because the city is capable of meeting the requirements of high-quality engineers, good infrastructure connections, etc.

Further discussion at the meeting, the issue of intellectual property protection is also of great concern to Ampere Company; if investing in Da Nang, it is recommended that the city provide solutions to protect intellectual property rights for the company's products.

Da Nang City commits to providing maximum support for information security and intellectual property protection for the company's products and operating processes thanks to the well-invested security system at Software Park No. 2. Furthermore, the city is ready to invite cybersecurity experts to enhance security.

The cooperation between Da Nang city and Ampere Company is one of the important partnership establishment in the process of creating a semiconductor ecosystem for the city, creating the premise to realize the vision of "building a semiconductor area by the sea - Silicon Beach" in Da Nang.
