After 4 months of intense construction, up to now, Ca Mau City has completed and put into use 53 houses, with a total cost of 3 billion 252 million VND. The remaining 83 houses are in the finishing stage, each house is an effort, a joint effort of the whole society and of each individual family, clan and surrounding neighborhood. With the motto "whoever has something to contribute, whoever has merit contributes merit, whoever has property contributes property, whoever has a lot contributes a lot, whoever has little contributes little", each completed house is a motivation for the poor and policy families to rise up in life.

Over the past years, the policy of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses has been implemented nationwide. In particular, with the goal of joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide by 2025, a large emulation movement was launched in the last days of 2024. In that spirit, Ca Mau City has established a Steering Committee to implement the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the city for the period 2024-2025. At the same time, review, appraise, inspect, and prepare records to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for households with the cooperation of the whole community.

The family of Ms. Tu Thi Mai Trinh, Tan Hiep Hamlet, An Xuyen Commune, was previously a near-poor household, with a dilapidated house that did not provide shelter from the rain or sun. After a survey by the local government, her family had the funds to build a new house. Especially with the humane policy of Ca Mau City, in addition to the budget of the province and city, each house in Ca Mau City supported an additional 10 million VND to build a toilet, ensuring housing criteria, the households were extremely excited.

Ms. Trinh confided: “Having a decent house has been a long-standing dream of my mother and I. In the future, my family will try harder to find and maintain jobs so that the family economy can develop and life can be more stable.”

Mr. Tran Dai Doan, Secretary of the Party Committee of An Xuyen commune, affirmed: "We regularly stick to the area, monitoring each house during the construction progress. When people enjoy the house, the commune creates models, such as raising chickens, pigs... to help people escape poverty."

After screening, Ca Mau City has a total of 137 houses in need of support for new construction and repair, with a total allocated budget of 7 billion 910 million VND. In addition to the State budget support, households, relatives, and clans provide additional support, and help each other with labor days (the number of labor days converted into money is estimated at 21,750,000 VND). In addition to the budget allocated according to the prescribed norms, the city supports the construction of toilets with 10 million VND/house (new construction); 5 million VND/house (repair), with a total budget of 930 million VND.

Promoting the youth's strength, Tan Thanh Commune Union has established a team to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, joining hands with the common goal of not leaving anyone behind.

Union member Huynh Van Au, Tan Thanh commune, Ca Mau city, said: “With the spirit of youth who are not afraid of difficulties, I am very excited to help people in the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the commune. I personally hope that people will soon have new houses to stabilize their living conditions and develop their economy.”

Responding to the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, the Military Command of Tac Van Commune and the Commune Youth Union actively helped households to dismantle houses, raise foundations, and clean up materials to build new houses; more than 30 forces worked day and night to help people.
