Youth with heart - vision - talent towards the future of Ho Chi Minh City

On the morning of March 28, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc and many leaders of departments and branches had a dialogue with young people in a friendly and open atmosphere.

Suggesting to the young people present in person and at many connecting points in districts, towns, and Thu Duc City, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc said that each young person should be proud to be a citizen of the city, especially in the context of Ho Chi Minh City heading towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.

Live with great aspirations and great ambitions

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that there are many opportunities and advantages, of which human resources are one of the city's special resources, to successfully implement the city's goals and tasks set out in 2025.

Referring to the important position of Ho Chi Minh City in international trade, as a land of talented people, a pioneer in innovation and creativity, Mr. Duoc said that Ho Chi Minh City originated many important development policies, including economic development, contributing to the whole country.

"Being proud of where we live and work, each of us needs to determine our responsibilities and behaviors to be worthy of the expectations set by the Politburo for Ho Chi Minh City, worthy of the city's position and not ashamed of the hard work of our ancestors," Mr. Duoc emphasized.

Mr. Duoc repeated the words of General Secretary To Lam that "HCMC must be a pioneer, must change strongly, must create a model of exemplary development for the whole country".

And Mr. Duoc added: "That responsibility rests on the shoulders of the youth, how can we, together with the city, be worthy of its heroic tradition, which is also the expectation of the whole country for Ho Chi Minh City."

Believing that taking advantage of achievements in science and technology, digital technology is an opportunity for young people to overcome all barriers, Mr. Duoc affirmed: "Young people have a particularly important role in this comprehensive revolution, the core to decide on completing the assigned historical mission".

Young people must be ready to take responsibility for the city.

Mr. Vo Lap Phuc - a specialist in the foreign affairs advisory team of Thu Duc City - is concerned that when there will be no more district-level government, the personnel recruited from the talent attraction policy of Ho Chi Minh City working in districts will be affected.

Mr. Phuc is one of 6 excellent graduates recruited under the City Party Committee's project, sent to work at the grassroots level. Along with that, the City Youth Union always cares about preserving traditional cultural values, and has many ways to reach young people.

"The city's youth and children really hope that the Youth Cultural House and the City Children's Palace in Thu Thiem will soon start construction, creating a worthy place for the city's youth to enjoy cultural values," said the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union.

Mr. Hai cited the annual Euréka Student Scientific Research Competition which has grown to national level, and the Ho Chi Minh City Startup Innovation Competition which has reached international level with many projects from many countries participating.

However, due to legal problems, the youth startup support fund that has been operating for many years is currently suspended and withdrawn to return capital to the city.

"I really hope the city government will pay attention to removing obstacles so that the fund can continue to be exploited and supported to start a business," Mr. Hai proposed.

Speaking at the dialogue, Mr. Ngo Minh Hai affirmed that the youth are always ready to take responsibility before the city leaders, contributing to the development of the city and the country.

At the meeting, you also made many proposals related to mechanisms and policies to promote talents, build high-quality human resources, and promote youth in the era of industrialization and modernization.

At the same time, he expressed his wish that the application of digital transformation and AI technology must be stronger as well as adequate investment in developing modern city transport, solving the public transport problem well.

The departments and branches also noted and discussed the issues raised by the youth.

Talk to young people about patriotism and pride in the city

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee suggested that young people should properly perceive the role and position of youth in the cause of industrialization and modernization, and do a better job of educating young people about revolutionary ideals, patriotism, love for compatriots and love for the city.

Mr. Duoc noted that the Youth Union needs to have an attractive form and solution to attract more young people outside the organization. How to help young people live with ambition and aspiration, creating breakthroughs.

Noting to the Party committees and authorities at all levels, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that it is necessary to properly perceive the role and position of youth as an important resource in the country's development, and to have appropriate care and boldly assign work to youth.

"Immediately after this conference, departments, branches and sectors will collect all the recommendations of the youth so that the city leaders can have appropriate direction according to our capacity and resources," said Mr. Duoc.
