(NLDO) - The National Assembly Standing Committee voted to pass a resolution to establish Phu My City in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.

On the afternoon of January 15, the National Assembly Standing Committee considered and decided to establish wards in Phu My town and Phu My city in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
Presenting the Government's proposal, Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra said the establishment of Phu My City and two wards is based on the original area and population size of Phu My town and two communes (Tan Hoa, Tan Hai).
Accordingly, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has no change in natural area, population size and number of district and commune-level units, but has increased by 1 city and 2 wards and decreased by 1 town and 2 communes.
Phu My City has no change in natural area and population size, with 10 commune-level units (7 wards and 3 communes). At the same time, the 2 wards after establishment have no change in area and population size.
The Minister of Home Affairs said that the establishment of two wards in Phu My town and the establishment of Phu My city, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province ensures all five conditions stipulated in the Law on Organization of Local Government.
Phu My town meets 5/5 criteria to establish a provincial city and 2 communes (Tan Hoa, Tan Hai) meet 4/4 criteria to establish wards according to regulations.
Examining this content, Chairman of the Law Committee Hoang Thanh Tung agreed with the necessity of establishing Tan Hoa and Tan Hai wards in Phu My town, and establishing Phu My city in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province for the reasons stated in the Government's proposal and project.
The establishment of wards and cities is in accordance with the planning, meets the requirements of state administrative management organization, the level of socio-economic development in the area and creates conditions to continue promoting the potential and strengths of the locality.
Mr. Hoang Thanh Tung made recommendations to the authorities in the newly established wards and cities, suggesting that they closely follow the central government's direction on the work of arranging and streamlining the organizational apparatus. Proactively review and research to carry out appropriate arrangements, contributing to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of local government operations...
Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh emphasized that the National Assembly Standing Committee highly appreciated the project which had been carefully and meticulously prepared by the Government and localities.
The establishment of Tan Hoa, Tan Hai wards and Phu My city will create momentum for continued comprehensive socio-economic development in the area. At the same time, it will improve the quality of life of the people, contributing positively to the development of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in particular and the country in general.
At the meeting, 100% of the members of the National Assembly Standing Committee present voted in favor of passing the resolution on the establishment of wards in Phu My town and the establishment of Phu My city, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
The Resolution takes effect from March 1, 2025.
