The association was established in the context of an increasing number of Vietnamese families in Japan wishing to preserve and promote cultural traditions for generations of Vietnamese children born and raised in Japan.
According to a VNA reporter in Tokyo, on November 30, the establishment ceremony of the Vietnam Traditional Arts and Culture Association in Japan (Betoraku) took place at the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan.
The association was established in the context of an increasing number of Vietnamese families in Japan expressing their desire to preserve and promote Vietnamese cultural traditions for generations of Vietnamese children born and raised in Japan.
Speaking at the founding ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu said that the establishment of the Association is an extremely important piece in the development of the Vietnamese community in Japan, contributing to the community becoming stronger.
The Ambassador emphasized that President Ho Chi Minh affirmed that “culture lights the way for the nation,” culture is an important factor, the foundation not only for national development but also the bond that promotes international exchange and integration of the country in the context of deep international integration as it is today.
The Embassy highly appreciated the establishment of the Vietnam Traditional Culture Association in Japan, a country also rich in cultural traditions, and believed that the good relationship between the two nations today is also greatly contributed by cultural exchanges between the two countries.
Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu expressed his hope that the Association’s activities would help unite the community towards the homeland and country through cultural values. The Ambassador called on the Association to continue expanding its membership, enhancing its position and qualifications in the cultural fields, especially traditional arts and culture.
The Ambassador expressed his joy that the establishment of the Association received enthusiastic support from Vietnamese youth in Japan, attracting the participation of many Vietnamese youth in Japan.
The Ambassador suggested that the Association should not limit its membership to Vietnamese people but should expand its scope to include Japanese artists and cultural figures. That would deepen the relationship between the two countries, as well as enrich Vietnam's cultural treasure.
Professor Tran Van Tho, Honorary President of the Association of Traditional Vietnamese Culture and Arts in Japan, said that the establishment of the Association at the present time is necessary and timely.
According to the Professor, there needs to be an organization that inherits and promotes the beauty of Vietnamese culture, and creates opportunities for people to be aware of the history and culture of their roots, thereby connecting with their homeland and enriching their spiritual life.
The professor believes that the Association will also be an organization that helps the second and third generations of Vietnamese people understand and love the Vietnamese language, and through understanding of culture and art, they will be proud of their history and culture.
Professor Tran Van Tho also pointed out another important role of the Association is to promote exchanges with Japanese cultural agencies, thereby introducing Vietnamese culture and art, and learning and absorbing Japanese culture and art, thereby acting as a bridge with domestic cultural institutions, contributing to promoting Vietnam-Japan cultural exchange.
Ms. Do Khanh Han, President of the Association, shared that the establishment of the Association is the beginning of a new journey to honor and spread the proud cultural and artistic values of the Vietnamese people in Japan, contributing to strengthening the Vietnamese community in Japan to be united, energetic, developed, and oriented towards the homeland, as well as contributing to strengthening the friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan.
Ms. Do Khanh Han said that the Association has set three major goals to pursue, including preserving, honoring, and spreading the beauty of Vietnamese culture and art in the community in particular and in Japan in general; mobilizing, connecting, and promoting all resources to effectively implement the above goals; striving to become a bridge between Vietnamese cultural and art groups in Japan, becoming a reliable and quality partner of cultural and art agencies and organizations in Japan as well as in Vietnam; contributing to promoting Vietnam-Japan cultural exchange.
According to Ms. Do Khanh Han, the Association will implement practical projects to connect groups and individuals passionate about Vietnamese culture and arts in Japan, in order to enhance exchanges, understanding and mutual support; implement practical projects to directly support the dissemination and promotion of research, practice and performance of traditional Vietnamese culture and arts for groups and individuals interested and passionate; improve the quality, expand the scale, and diversify the presence of traditional Vietnamese culture and arts in economic and social events in Japan.
Ms. Do Khanh Han pledged that all activities of the Association will always put community values first with the highest goal of honoring and preserving the beauty of Vietnamese culture./.
