Thanh Hoa calls for investment in cable car in Pu Luong nature reserve

On December 3, information from the Office of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province said that the People's Committee of this province has just decided to approve the project of eco-tourism, resort, and entertainment in the special-use forest of Pu Luong nature reserve (Ba Thuoc district, Thanh Hoa) until 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Cao Son area (Lung Cao commune) is located in Pu Luong nature reserve, where a tourist area will be built.

According to the project, the scale of implementing tourist spots, routes, and tourist spaces on an area of ​​nearly 17,000 hectares of forest in Pu Luong nature reserve and connecting with the buffer zone in Ba Thuoc and Quan Hoa districts.

The goal of developing tourism in Pu Luong Nature Reserve is to preserve and promote the value of natural landscapes, effectively exploit the potential and advantages of biodiversity, scenic spots, and beliefs associated with the cultural identity of ethnic groups; attract and call for investment in leasing forest environments to develop various types of tourism.

Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee also set specific targets to welcome about 15,800 tourists by 2025; about 27,000 by 2030; and about 50,000 by 2045. Of which, the proportion of international visitors to Pu Luong will increase from 30% in 2025 to 50% in 2045. Revenue from tourism activities will reach 85 billion VND by 2045. Becoming one of the key eco-tourism centers of Thanh Hoa province.

In the Pu Luong forest area, local people have been growing many types of fruit trees with good quality.

To attract and call for investors to invest in tourism in the Pu Luong Nature Reserve, Thanh Hoa province has planned to build an administrative area in Pa Ban village (Thanh Son commune, Ba Thuoc district). At the same time, it focuses on developing satellite tourist destinations such as Canh Chan waterfall, Kho Muong cave, Pu Luong peak, and Gia stream, which are places with potential for tourism development in the Pu Luong forest area.

Along with tourism services, Thanh Hoa province will build 9 intra-regional tourism routes, 7 inter-regional connecting routes and 5 marathon routes through Pu Luong forest. In particular, adventure tourism will be built as the main type of tourism in Pu Luong, to serve tourists to check out the ancient cho tree complex; conquer Pu Luong peak; explore Pa Co pine forest, red pine; Kho Muong cave; experience Canh Chan waterfall in Pu Luong forest area.

Notably, from now until 2030, Thanh Hoa province will call for investors to design and build a cable car system connecting the area, from the administrative center (Pa Ban village, Thanh Son commune) to Pu Luong peak and to Cao Son tourist area (Lung Cao commune, Ba Thuoc district).

The cable car system will help visitors admire the diverse ecosystem of Pu Luong forest, and is located at an altitude of more than 1,700 m above sea level.

The culture of ethnic groups living in Pu Luong forest area and surrounding areas will be one of the tourism products attracting domestic and foreign tourists.

Thanh Hoa province also requires that when constructing and developing tourism in Pu Luong nature reserve, the construction of works serving tourism, resort and entertainment services must comply with the principle of ensuring friendliness with nature and not destroying the landscape.

In the strictly protected forest area, only trails, overhead cables, underground cables, landscape observation stations, shelters, and forest protection signs combined with ecotourism can be established.

To implement the planning, promotion, construction and renovation of a number of projects and items within the scope of state investment, Thanh Hoa province has decided to spend more than 182 billion VND to implement.

The implementation of the above project is assigned to the Pu Luong Nature Reserve Management Board, in conjunction with investors.
