After more than 20 years of struggling in the South with many jobs to make a living, Mr. Phan Thanh Binh (40 years old) decided to return to his hometown in My Thuy village, Hai An commune, Hai Lang district to start a business with a model of producing PET plastic bottles. Thanks to his diligence, hard work, and sensitivity to the market, and good understanding of customer needs, he has now built a production model that brings in a good income for his family and creates jobs for many local workers.

In 2018, Mr. Binh and his wife decided to return home and start over. Returning home, he realized that My Thuy village was a traditional fish sauce producer in large quantities, the craft village was growing, but they could not take the initiative in the source of bottles to package the product. “To have bottles to package fish sauce, My Thuy villagers had to go all the way to Quang Tri town, dozens of kilometers away, to buy them, which was very difficult and dangerous because the goods were bulky.
From then on, I thought about it and decided to invest in a pet bottle production model,” Mr. Binh confided. Initially, Mr. Binh pooled capital with a brother to open a plastic bottle production facility. The business was increasingly favorable, but in order to have better conditions and opportunities for development, in August 2022, he and his wife decided to separate and build their own facility. With the accumulated capital, Mr. Binh invested 700 million VND to buy a modern, electrically operated machinery system such as a preform drying heat generator, bottle blowing machine, and chiller to produce pet bottles. His facility was supported by the Department of Industry and Trade with 150 million VND to invest in additional machinery, equipment, and factories.

Proficiently operating the modern machinery system, Mr. Binh said that each day the facility produces about 12,000 products, and production is carried out year-round. In total, each year the facility supplies millions of products to the market.
“The main consumers are in Hai Lang, Trieu Phong districts and Thua Thien Hue province. Initially, my facility produced 7 different models of plastic bottles, mainly serving establishments producing fish sauce, bottled water and soft drinks,” said Mr. Binh. According to him, the average selling price of each plastic bottle is about 900 VND. After deducting all production costs, the profit is not much, but if there are stable customers who order in large quantities, the profit will be many times higher than the local people's fishing profession.
Up to now, Mr. Binh's plastic bottle manufacturing facility has been operating stably, and is increasingly known by many customers. Each year, his facility has a revenue of more than 800 million VND, after deducting expenses, the profit is more than 200 million VND. In addition to bringing economic efficiency to himself, he also creates regular jobs for 3 local workers with a salary of 6 - 7 million VND/person/month.
In addition to producing PET plastic bottles, Mr. Binh and his wife also opened a store selling electrical and plumbing products. Mr. Binh himself works as an electrician, welder, and produces winches for boats. Whenever he has free time, he goes to sea to catch seafood.
With dynamism, diligence and eagerness to learn, Mr. Binh and his wife have now successfully established a business in their hometown and built a reputable and effective production facility. Thanks to that, his family's economic life is increasingly prosperous, allowing them to raise two children to study properly.
Mr. Binh said that currently his facility is one of two facilities producing PET plastic bottles in Hai Lang district, so the potential for developing this profession is still very large. Therefore, in the future, if he has the capital and a more abundant source of customers, he plans to continue expanding the scale of production to further develop this relatively new and promising production model.
