Back in Ho Chi Minh City, the “Korean foodie” immediately enjoyed her favorite dish, stone pot pho. She finished 4 servings in a flash, along with a bowl of poached eggs and a separate bowl of mixed meat.
Heebab (28 years old) is one of the famous YouTubers who makes mukbang clips (eating and filming at the same time) in Korea with a personal channel with more than 1.67 million followers.
In a recently posted video, Heebab revealed that he had just returned to Ho Chi Minh City after his first trip in December 2024.
“I am in Ho Chi Minh City. I came here because of the stone pot pho that I had experienced last time. I want to introduce that pho restaurant to everyone,” Heebab said.
The pho restaurant that the famous Korean YouTuber visited is a famous eatery on Bui Bang Doan Street (Tan Phong Ward, District 7). The restaurant has a spacious space with indoor and outdoor seating.
Here, Heebab ordered 3 of his favorite stone pot pho dishes, including: Corn pho; Corn pho with brisket and beef balls; Corn pho, brisket, tail and beef ribs.
Each portion costs 100,000 VND.
When the dishes were served all at once, she admitted that she could not distinguish the difference in appearance of each pho dish here.
The Korean female tourist found the broth of all three dishes to be the same, only the ingredients were different. Depending on the dish the customer ordered, the amount of meat and type of beef served also varied.
“The interesting thing is that the pho noodles and fresh beef are served separately, and diners dip themselves into the hot broth to cook the ingredients,” she described.
When tasting the broth, Heebab exclaimed in surprise because the original flavor was still as appealing as the first time he enjoyed it.
Then she seasoned it with a little pepper, chili and garlic vinegar to make the pho more delicious.
The young customer commented that the pho noodles were a bit thick but soft, and the beef was softer than expected and easy to eat.
“I thought the beef would be tough, but it was really tender. The noodles were also very soft. This is definitely a taste that Koreans love,” she complimented.
After a short time, Heebab enjoyed all 3 stone pot pho dishes. She admitted that the beef pho was so delicious that she wanted to come here to eat every day.
The “million-view” YouTuber also highly appreciated the accompanying ingredients such as oxtail, beef ribs… which are soft, easy to separate the meat from the bone and rich in flavor.
Even after enjoying 3 bowls of pho, she also ordered 1 more bowl of oxtail pho for 80,000 VND, 1 bowl of mixed meat and 1 cup of poached eggs.
“I love this oxtail pho. The only downside is that there is no rice. This pho broth is really good when you mix rice in,” she said humorously.
The female tourist also praised the stone pot pho as "a different level of Vietnamese pho", completely different from the pho she tried in Korea.
At the end of the meal, Heebab paid 540,000 VND. In addition to 4 servings of pho, she also had a pack of fried breadsticks for 15,000 VND/5 pieces, a bowl of poached eggs for 10,000 VND, a bowl of special meat for 70,000 VND, a can of beer for 30,000 VND, and a mango smoothie for 35,000 VND.
Sharing with reporters, Mr. Le Duc Truong (50 years old) - owner of the pho restaurant that Heebab visited said that stone pot pho is one of the dishes that many domestic diners and foreign tourists love when coming to the restaurant.
The broth is served in a stone or Bat Trang ceramic pot to keep it hot throughout the meal.
Mr. Truong said that the pho here has a Northern flavor, but uses spices from all three regions such as chili sauce from the North, black sauce and garlic from the South, and pickled onions and vinegar from the Central region.
In particular, the restaurant's pho noodles are hand-made on-site, made from 100% pure rice soaked in filtered water for 24 hours.
“Steps such as selecting rice, milling rice, and making rice cakes are also done in the traditional way.
The flour is ground with a stone mortar and then steamed in a steamer. After steaming, the cakes are left to dry for about 5 minutes to ensure their elasticity. The shop also slices the cakes according to customers’ requests and then dips them in boiling water to soften them,” Mr. Truong introduced.
