In April, we accompanied the People's Army and General Department of Politics film crew to visit the Southern Regional Party Committee and Administrative Committee - Resistance Base in Nhon Hoa Lap Commune, Tan Thanh District, Long An Province. Officers and soldiers visit the exhibition area at the relic site of the Southern Regional Party Committee Base and the Southern Resistance Administration Committee.

The Southern Regional Party Committee and Administrative Committee - Resistance base is where comrades: Le Duan, Ton Duc Thang, Ung Van Khiem, Pham Hung, Pham Van Bach, Pham Ngoc Thuan, Nguyen Binh, Huynh Tan Phat, Tran Van Tra once participated in revolutionary activities. This is also where important historical events of the Southern revolution took place in the early years of the resistance war against French colonialism. Now, when visiting the relic site, the gentle scent of lotus and frangipani flowers wafts in the air, under the green trees are simple restored houses, the exhibition area is like "witnesses" reminding us of the glorious past of our ancestors' generation.

Commander of the Military Command of Nhon Hoa Lap Commune, Tan Thanh District - Ha Hai Ngoc said: "As a son of the heroic homeland of Tan Thanh , I constantly promote tradition, forge my mettle, advise on building a strong communal armed force, contribute to the successful completion of local military and defense tasks, and meet the requirements of the new situation."

This place also marks the birth of Southern cinema on October 16, 1947 under the name of the National Guard Photography Group Zone 8. The first cadres such as Khuong Me, Mai Loc, Le Hung,... were brought from Saigon to the war zone by the revolution. Although there were still shortages of equipment, machinery, and film, they studied foreign books, newspapers, and documents to assemble film cameras, project films, develop films, and follow the battlefield closely to shoot valuable documentary footage, the first of which was the film Battle of Moc Hoa (August 1948).

On December 28, 1948, at the Military Club of Zone 8 on the banks of the Duong Van Duong canal, the people of Dong Thap Muoi watched a complete documentary about the Battle of Moc Hoa to celebrate the Conference of the Southern Resistance - Administrative Committee. It can be said that the Vietnamese Revolutionary Cinema industry was born at the Dong Thap Muoi base with the film Battle of Moc Hoa.

This place also produced valuable paintings by famous artists such as the painting Battle of Tam Vu by artist Nguyen Hiem, which won First Prize at the National Fine Arts Exhibition in 1956, the Ministry of National Defense Award in 1984, and the State Prize for Literature and Arts in 1996.

Artist Diep Minh Chau, in the Southern resistance zone, followed the National Guard units to many places such as Go Cong, My Tho, Ben Tre, Sa Dec and Dong Thap Muoi region, so his works during this period vividly reflected the resistance atmosphere of the Southern region.

From natural landscapes, labor, production, volunteering to the Southern guerrillas full of spirit and determination to win. Those features were breathed into his works: Dong Thap Muoi Landscape, Popular Classroom in a Forest Shelter, Through the Leaf Forest, Guerrillas Through the Village, Reed Splitting Soldiers,...

And among the sketches drawn right on the battlefield still covered in gunpowder smoke, the most notable is the one of Soldier Le Hong Son who sacrificed his life while charging, which he drew with his own blood. In particular, the picture of Uncle Ho and 3 children from the North, Central and South was drawn with his own blood in the jubilant scene of the August Revolution Day in 1945 and the National Day on September 2 when listening to Uncle Ho read the Declaration of Independence.

Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Duc Tu of the People's Army Film Crew shared: "Being able to return to the Southern Regional Party Committee and Administrative Committee - Resistance Base in the Southern land, to visit the cradle of Southern cinema, our generation is extremely proud and moved. And here, we will have valuable film footage to contribute to the success of the documentary that the unit is making."

For the generation born and raised in peace, visiting the "red address" of the Southern Regional Party Committee Base and the Southern Resistance Administration Committee to better understand the important historical events that took place here, the Party cadres and famous intellectuals who lived and worked here to lead the resistance movement with resounding achievements, to know where the first Southern Radio Station was established, where the first documentary film of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Cinema was born.

Coming here, each person is equipped with more historical knowledge, arousing pride and deep gratitude, thereby fostering a sense of responsibility in the cause of building and firmly protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland./.
