Both Vietnam and Thailand had national team players in their squads, so the match was very exciting. However, the home team was more courageous at the decisive points.
The Vietnam People's Army volleyball team confidently entered the first set. Setter Dinh Van Duy completed his task excellently, helping hitters like Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and Tran Duy Tuyen easily score points. The Vietnamese team at times created a gap of up to 6 points, but the opponent did not give up easily to narrow the score to 20-21. The Vietnamese team's courage spoke up at the right time to win 25-23.

In the second set, both sides were evenly matched with each other. The Vietnamese team often maintained a gap of 2 to 3 points. But at the end of the set, Chaiwat Thungkham and Napadet Bhinijdee played brilliantly, helping Thailand tie the score at 20-20. The team then won 26-24.
In set 3, the Vietnamese team played more carefully. Coach Tran Dinh Tien asked his players to stay alert in defensive situations and to cherish every point in the attack. Pham Van Hiep and his teammates won 25-18 in this set.
In set 4, the Thai team fought back strongly when they were pushed into a corner. At one point, they were leading 17-11. However, the Vietnamese team regained their composure and equalized the score before winning 25-22.
The Vietnam People's Army volleyball team won 3-1 overall, winning the 2023 ASEAN Military Volleyball Championship. The team won all 4 matches from the beginning of the tournament, against Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia and Thailand.
The Vietnam People's Army volleyball team has 7 players from the Border Defense Club: main attacker Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, Tran Minh Duc, middle attacker Tran Duy Tuyen, Dao Duy Thanh, opposite Pham Van Hiep, setter Dinh Van Duy and libero Vu Anh Tuan.
