Start meaningful activities
The 2025 Humanitarian Month in the province is being implemented quite early by all levels of the Red Cross. According to the plan of the Provincial Red Cross, this year's Humanitarian Month will be held from March 1st to May 31st, 2025, with the peak of activities taking place from May 8th (International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day) to May 19th (Birthday of President Ho Chi Minh - the founder and first Honorary President of the Red Cross).
In response to this year's Humanitarian Month, Phu Giao district is urgently implementing plans and mobilizing resources to organize humanitarian activities, aiming to gather as many resources as possible to support people in need.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Phu Giao District Red Cross Society, said that to date, the local Red Cross Society has implemented several activities in response to the Humanitarian Month. Specifically, they have started construction on 3 Red Cross houses in Vinh Hoa, An Long communes and Phuoc Vinh town, with each house funded by the Provincial Red Cross Society with 100 million VND; donated 3 wheelchairs to disabled people in difficult circumstances with a total value of over 8.2 million VND; launched the "Million Steps of Compassion - Continuing the Golden Pages of History" campaign in 2025; organized the 2025 competition for outstanding Red Cross officials; and coordinated the donation of health insurance cards to 50 disadvantaged people with a total value of over 31 million VND…
Focus on content that provides sustainable, long-term support. According to the provincial Red Cross leaders, Humanitarian Month is a peak period for nationwide humanitarian activities. Besides mobilizing resources to organize ongoing activities, during this peak period, the Red Cross will organize a series of activities to assist the poor, those in difficult circumstances, and vulnerable people. These will focus on areas such as: supporting livelihood development; awarding scholarships; building Red Cross houses; constructing humanitarian projects; and supporting boarding and semi-boarding school kitchens in remote areas. Mobilization efforts will be linked to humanitarian causes in the area to provide long-term support to poor households and those in particularly difficult circumstances. |
Immediately after the launch of the Humanitarian Month plan, Red Cross branches at all levels in Di An City organized many activities in response. In Binh An ward, the ward's Red Cross branch launched the 2025 Humanitarian Month and introduced the "Journey of Love: Sharing Love - Sharing Happiness" model and distributed health insurance cards to needy people. Meanwhile, the Di An ward Red Cross branch coordinated with the Di An SOS Team and the neighborhood Red Cross branch to donate a wheelchair to Mr. Nguyen Manh Dung, a resident of Thong Nhat 1 neighborhood, who suffered a stroke and is unable to walk on his own.
Recently, the Dĩ An City Red Cross Society held a groundbreaking ceremony for two humanitarian projects to celebrate "Humanitarian Month" in 2025. The projects are two Red Cross houses, funded by the Provincial Red Cross Society (100 million VND each), for Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Linh in Binh An Ward and Mr. Nguyen Khac Binh in Tan Dong Hiep Ward.
Along with other meaningful humanitarian activities, the commencement of construction of Red Cross houses for people facing housing difficulties is a practical form of support. These decent houses, built through the collective efforts of the community, not only provide those supported with a warm home for their families, giving them peace of mind and encouraging them to strive for a better and more stable life, but also contribute to achieving the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated housing, a priority for local authorities.
Humanitarian Month
With the theme "Humanitarian Journey - Spreading Love," the Provincial Red Cross Society has set very specific goals for this year's Humanitarian Month at each level. Accordingly, at the provincial level, resources will be mobilized to organize several humanitarian activities, such as: organizing a program of medical examinations, health consultations, dispensing medicine, and giving gifts to 300-500 people; organizing a day of compassion; implementing humanitarian projects and tasks according to the 2025 program...
At the district level, each district and city branch of the Red Cross Society should organize one program/activity to implement the "Good People, Good Deeds - Working Together to Build a Compassionate Community" movement with community participation; providing assistance to 100% of humanitarian cases. Each district should support the construction of one Red Cross house (with a budget of 80 million VND/house); and provide livelihood support to at least one poor family in difficult circumstances (with a budget of 15 million VND/household/district). Each locality should encourage at least 10 people to register to donate human tissues and organs.
In addition, the District and City Red Cross branches strive to mobilize resources of 350 million VND or more to implement activities during the Humanitarian Month and proactively prepare to meet humanitarian assistance needs in 2025. They will continue to mobilize officials, members, volunteers, Red Cross youth, and residents in their areas to participate in the "Million Steps of Compassion - Continuing the Golden Page" campaign in 2025 according to the province's plan. Each district and city aims to mobilize at least 350 people to participate in walking and running on the online sports platform vRace, conquering a total distance of 30,000 km; and mobilize resources equivalent to 30 million VND (equivalent to 1,000 VND/km) to implement humanitarian assistance activities...
During Humanitarian Month, awareness campaigns are intensified, linked to community participation in the "Good People, Good Deeds - Working Together to Build a Compassionate Community" movement. This activity aims to gradually change perceptions about humanitarian work, promote compassionate behavior among all segments of the population, and mobilize many people to participate in humanitarian activities, contributing to caring for, supporting, and empowering disadvantaged and vulnerable people to improve their lives.
