Dramatic win over Malaysian team, Hai Phong opens the door to continue

On the afternoon of October 25, Hai Phong hosted Sabah at Lach Tray Stadium in the third match of Group H of the AFC Cup.

With the goal of 3 points to keep the hope of passing the group stage, Hai Phong poured troops into the attack right after the opening whistle.

In the 14th minute, Huu Son dribbled hard and then shot straight into Sabah's goal to open the score.

In the 18th minute, receiving a pass from his teammate, Dam Tien Dung suddenly swung his leg to score the second goal in the match against the Malaysian team.

Conceding two goals in less than 20 minutes, Sabah started to attack to shorten the gap.

However, in the remaining time of the first half, the away team could not penetrate Hai Phong's disciplined defense once.

After the break, Sabah continued to push up their attacking formation with the goal of nothing but a goal to shorten the gap.

After many efforts, in the 71st minute, the away team found a goal thanks to Ramon Machado.

But just 1 minute later, the V-League representative re-established a 2-goal lead thanks to a goal by Dam Tien Dung.

Despite conceding the third goal, the Malaysian team did not give up and continued to increase pressure on goalkeeper Dinh Trieu's goal.

In the 81st minute, substitute player Gary Steven dribbled the ball and then took a beautiful long-range shot into Hai Phong's net.

In the remaining time, despite playing very hard, Sabah could not find another equalizer and accepted a 2-3 loss to Hai Phong.

With this result, Hai Phong has 6 points after 3 matches and has a wide open door to continue.
